Small Business Success Stories. (9 posts)

  • We use this networking club to talk a lot about social media for small business. Don’t get me wrong I love it, but I would really love to hear about some of the small business success stories we have right here in this club. Please share your success.

  • Me too.

  • do  you include   me, a  brick and  mortar small  business.  ?  if  so heres my  thing…our  website is ancient, .i love  blogging  and  have  had mine for 3 or 4  yrs…i  got up to   about  70  viewers a day…most  from   far away…now i have  almost   dropped it  …….   then a couple of  yrs  ago i got our  store on  facebook  and its  been   about the  best marketing  we have, in that  time  we have   over 2400  fans…its  so integrated in  everything we do…its on all the paper  reciepts, we talk it up in the store,   we have  made the growth   without   contests or  coupons or   any  of  those kinds of plots…..  most   im  sure are  very interested in or store….the most  comments  come from   the product posts….they love pictures,  our  demographics are perfect  for  facebook, and also  what we are selling,    i  go  for about   6  posts a week….maybe  1 or  2  not  product  related…..  we have 2 admins…..

    the only   thing i paid  for   in  social media  was  a 100$  course on  facebook,   which helped me use the   profile  picture spot  better….most of  the other ideas   we   were already  doing  …… the  course was nice but probably   aimed   more at  online sellers  instead  of    local face to face  sellers like us……….also i  bought  grandma marys  book…right  before the  big  changeover!!! stilll getting a lot out of it tho…

    roi?  no  but  its  been a  big plus  for us………i like my  blog  more  but   the   buying  customers  are on  our    facebook…..  now  we   will see  how   much pinterest   will work out….ive  been on  a  few  weeks  and have  about  500  followers…. i dont  really have  much of a plot on that one…. the   followers  on  there  seem  farther away  geographically  than our  facebook followers…

    we area  regoinal  destination store  and we   use about  5 or 600$

     in  facebook ads a  yr… im  not sure on  how  much   thats helped…

     typically we tell a  customer   in the store we are on  facebook  and  they say… OH  GOOD….  thats how  great  a  fit it is  for us…

      just my humble opinion   but i  think its kind  of   not likely to  get  these  results  in  many  businesses.no  matter  how   up  to date  you are on all the   mechanics of  facebook…..we are in the  fun  girly happy   visual  side of   the  business world….

    @ryrussell

    i hope   to learn  everything i  can  to make  our page  better and  better… and not kill the  golden  goose!!!!

  • you are the queen of the brick and mortar, Ann! @annfurnivall

  • ha ha…i guess im  one of  the  few on here…thats  sad…this place   would  be  so helpful  for  so many in my  field….i do love   social media tho!!!!

  • @annfurnivall That is awesome, I too, have a brick and mortar business. I took it over with 3,200 fans it now has upwards of 10,000 and is the most profitable it has been in ages. Facebook has been a great tool for us and this year we are going all in with full mobile development.

  • @ @ryrussell what  kind of  business and how  did you do it? what   works  for you ?

    and   do you put   your like  number in  your  top tab?

  • One of my clients just started on Facebook. She is a real estate agent and just got her first lead from Facebook the other day, which was exciting. Someone saw a listing on FB and called about it!

  • @annfurnivall I own a drive in movie theater. Well first off it received a lot of exposure due to the fact I was 21 at the time, but I took advantage of free PR like crazy. I held a lot of community events, girl scouts, non-profits…etc. Those always received a lot of likes. I also cut the website out of the picture. I turned FB into our website, and directed all traffic to it.

    @rivkak That is great, the power of social media! Obviously there was a relevant post, at a time that was relevant for the buyer.
