Silent Pages vs. Noisy Profiles on Google+ (4 posts)

  • Hi guys,

in there very beginning, I may introduce myself. So this is Pat from Leipzig, Germany. I’am 22 years old, passionate web developer (both, client- and serverside), also proficient with photoshop and design, and last but not least up to date with the current SEO trends.

Sorry to say that, but I’am really an allrounder. But there is a great gap in Social Media.Mike told me to ask my questions here, so there it is:
I want to promote a YouTube Channel with Google+ and I don’t really now, if I should use a page (which is common) or a profile (or maybe both?).
The reason is, that I can’t comment or plus1 with the page, so its
harder to get the interaction with new folks.

On the other hand, a profile hasn’t that “xthousend plus one” beyond
    the profile image…

    I hope for your response.

    Have a nice day!Patrick

It’s much simpler to get engagement with personal profiles, not to say it wouldn’t be beneficial with a business profile.  I would suggest posting in both places.  One tactic I’ve picked up is posting a link to the video but not include the video itself.  I wouldn’t suggest doing it for all of your posts but it is an effective tactic.  Make sure you post a really good description of the video and use keywords to optimize for search.  This way you can drive traffic either to your YouTube channel.  I also suggest including something like “Want to see more?  Follow us on Google+” or “Want to see more?  Subscribe now!” to keep them coming back.
    Hope this helps!  Good luck!

I agree w/@iamconsulting in that promoting it from both a G+ profile and page makes the most sense.

And of course, don’t limit it to just G+.

Make sure you create keyword rich titles for your YouTube videos, link to them from all your social media profiles, create videos that help your audience (so they’re likely to search them out and subscribe to them), and be active on YouTube.

    Good luck!

  • @patrick I agree on the profile and page, both. I think pages will become more powerful with time and inception of G+Local but right now they are a little weak.
