What do you do to set up a purchase page online to sell a downloadable information product? Do you build a launch/home/squeeze page with email capture? If so, how?

@deairby Depending on the tools you’re using, you can do it from a lot of venues. But I will have a squeeze page on my site, plus a shopping cart that handles all the email capture and autoresponders.

A lot depends on if you’re using the squeeze page for a special or bonus offer, and if you’re running a promotion to track, or if it’s already part of an autoresponder campaign.  Then once they purchase they get an autoresponder that links them to the download. In my case, the download is hosted on my site.

Thanks, Ted, I’ll check out the e-junkie site. Email capture is the form that people fill in when they order and then you are building your list for future contact and product offers. Does e-junkie offer autoresponders to the customer? @tedksocial

Tyson, thanks for the premise link for wordpress. When you say you don’t promote it, do you mean you wouldn’t use it? Or, you are not being a sales rep? This looks like it might be what I’m looking for but should I not use it? @tysonstevens

After getting some beautiful squeeze pages free yesterday, I spent the rest of the afternoon researching what I reeeeeally should be using, so this thread is very timely for me. I love freebies, but can yall tell me the upside/downside to using freebie plugins or themes in this case? 

And how can I tell if someone has attached some sneaky special code or link back to their site on a freebie? I’ve heard that can happen and can be pretty common with freebies.

An easy way to set up a squeeze page and do what you want if you are going to use word press is Profts theme   I think you will find is very useful.  I gain ZERO financially from this

For the link I posted earlier [http://www.wpsqueezepages.com], I didn’t take a good look at the product. I just did a Google search: “wp plugin squeeze page“. It was more for showing an example of what you could do with a plugin.

Freebies can be anti-user-friendly. The paid themes/plugins should me more user friendly and have support if ever needed. Freebies typically don’t.
 
I haven’t had to create or use squeeze pages in a long time so I’m not sure which would be the best. The good thing is, (and it comes as a theme option too), the themes you buy should have this badge below. So if you don’t like it or if it’s not what you really wanted, you’re safe.
