Scout, Adventurer — What Do These Cute Little Badges Mean? (97 posts)

Topic tags: badges, levels, member ranks
  • I just loved my little “Scout” badge. Now I notice that I’ve ventured on to bigger things as an “Adventurer.” What’s it all about, Alfie? And how many badges are there? How many points for each badge? Just wondering.

  • @atlantarobin  The badges are based on interaction from what I understand.

In answer to how many badges, points, etc.  I have no idea…I just can’t wait to get the “Super Ninja” badge :)

  • @dakotalocal I want the one that says “Laura Croft, Tomb Raider,” so I can hang upside down dancing bungee cord ballet in the three-story foyer of my grand British countryside mansion. But then my sciatica tells me I must be digressing…

  • @dakotalocal Come to think of it, Tomb Raider would be a great badge for internet copy scrapers. Not quite at the Pirate level, but pretty close. OK, I don’t want to be Tomb Raider anymore. I’m much more at home with plain old Camper Carlisle!

So does anyone know what the real badge levels and names are?

  • Thanks @atlantarobin I’ve been trying to understand what the badges are – I’m going to spend an hour or two finding my way around the site today.  See you’re now an Explorer!

  • @atlantarobin @hazelmclellan

I love the marketing concept behind the badges. My guess is they are designed to encourage us to interact with each other. Those who do more receive more points that result in badges.

It definitely provides a perceived value and level of credibility. And, for people whom that may be important it inspires us to stay active on the site.

It was a great idea whoever thought of it!

  • @donpurdum I’m following you, oh trusty Guide. Where are we going next? Can’t wait to find out.

On one level, I feel like a mouse thrown into a maze. On another, I love the group that’s been thrown together here. I feel powerful things are on the horizon, no matter who moves my cheese or where.

  • @atlantarobin Not sure, stay tuned to what they have in store for us and lets enjoy the ride, lol.

  • @donpurdum
Good answer! No need to stress in understanding everything. Many times the fun is in the journey rather than the destination.

@atlantarobin I’m glad someone else feels the same way! I feel the whole social networking arena at times is a maze!

  • @atlantarobin

Regardless of their meaning the badges are fun.  Hopefully there will be some surprise popus here and there.  I guess we are all kids at heart.  I got all excited when I got my first mayorship on foursquare.  :-)   Cindy

  • @rOBIN – IS IT JUST FOR THE MOMENT WE LIVE?

  • I want a curmudgeon badge. :-)

  • @atlantarobin Now that you are a Trailblazer, what is your report on the levels?I’ve seen ScoutExplorerAdventurerPioneerTrailblazerGuide

    Any others?

  • Pioneer. I’ve seen that badge on a couple of folks — not sure where it falls in the order of things.
    @whitsonn

  • Whoops didn’t read clearly enough you already have listed it. LOL.

  • The post didn’t like my soft returns and ran it all together @stephaniefrank. Sorry it is difficult to read.

I’ve also seen Innovator and Firestarter. Along with Club Leader and maybe Moderator.

But I’m sure we could arrange to have a Curmudgeon badge for some like @bernsteincrisis.

  • Ok I confess… I was excited when mine changed from Scout to Adventurer! :) Mike’s video mentions the Leaderboards but it looks like the badges are another fun bonus.

  • Hey folks…

Here’s a hint.  The little red badge moves to the right as you go up in ranks.  Look at the leaderboard to see the higher ranks.

  • @mike-stelzner ranking systems do encourage participation. With the online world as easily accessible as it is, it is still surprising how “little things” like titles and badges still drive people to do more. hmm now how can I work that into a blog…

  • This SME Networking Club is a model for future upstart networking clubs!

  • @rlmosca @mike-stelzner

That’s a big scout knuckle bump to you, Rick! This is THE model for future networking. Can’t quite put my finger on it yet, but there is definitely something positively different here. Not like regular forums, even the best ones. This one’s in a class above all others.

Great job to our Scout Master – Club Leader Michael. And thank you so much for inviting us all to camp out here with you and the Social Media Examiner troupe!

    Happy Networking!

    Robin Carlisle

  • @atlantarobin Thanks for the Scout Bump, I am giving you my special FireStarter Bump to you and to wish you a very successful and happy 2012!

  • @whitsonn

How funny, Denise. I read your list and was thinking, ok, I remember one that started with an “I.” What was it? What was it? Then I glance over at your picture, and right there below it, it said “Innovator.” Just what I was trying to remember, and the one you left out, lol! Too funny!

I think Firestarter comes after that. Dea Irby and a couple others have made it that far, so far. So we’ll all have to watch where Dea goes next to see what follows, or rather, what ranks higher than a Firestarter?

Uhhhhh, maybe a Smokey the Bear? A WaterFall? The Fountain of Youth!!!! Yes, that’s it! DEA!!! You’re heading for the Fountain of Youth! Please, Dea, take me with you!

    Robin Carlisle

  • I would like to wish everyone

  • @mike-stelzner cool!

yeah i agree with you guys it really encourage participation

  • @rlmosca are you referring to IRL meetings? I belong to one in Orange County (Social Media Mastermind Orange County SMMOC meetup group for those interested) and it has been a fabulous experience sharing, learning and working together on projects. I think Mike has met most of of regular members and I could see incorporating /blending the two for a valuable outcome.

  • @atlantarobin I notice that Dea is now a Pacesetter and she’s not even to the mid point yet judging from the red indicator on the badge Mike mentioned

  • @whitsonn I was talking about this club!

  • Well, I know at least there is pacesetter next! True, fun how the little things make life interesting! I must be easily amused! @rlmosca @mike-stelzner @atlantarobin

  • @deairby

Oh, Priceless Princess PaceSetter, you do jest so heartily! We follow faithfully your pace in your quest to lead all your humble servants to King Klub Leader Michael’s hidden Flag Pole, beyondst our present Princess’ knowingness. Oh, what mysteries await up the trail?

Remaining your ever so humble maid in waiting,

    Robin Carlisle, Thy Friendly Firestarter

  • @rlmosca

Thanks, Rick! And a friendly firestarter bump to you, too. May you exceed all your greatest expectations in 2012, bringing you great joy, peace, prosperity, and a mysterious wee bit of grand adventure!

  • @atlantarobin  Thank you for saying… May you exceed all your greatest expectations in 2012, bringing you great joy, peace, prosperity, and a mysterious wee bit of grand adventure!

You have me all psyched up for my ” a mysterious wee bit of grand adventure!” Please my Friendly Firestarter reveal to me what this might be!,

  • Oh, dear Prince Pacesetter, but then that would forever foil your inquisitive endeavors toward discovery, sire. I shall not be the one to foil thy Prince’s most fond adventures. Mine lips shall remained sealed, while all mysteries that await our Prince shall surely unfold in time.

    @rlmosca

  • @whitsonn

I noticed it changed somewhere around 5500 maybe? Do you remember, Dea?

    @deairby

  • Our fearless Leader on the Leaderboard, Dea Irby, got promoted!

Yo, Ace! Word! Knuckle Bump! Go, girl!

So after Firestarter  and Pacesetter, you rise to an Ace!

Hmmmmm…. Have we taken to the air above Camp now?

    What’s next?

    @deairby @dakotalocal @hazelmclellan @donpurdum @pamelasmalbein @cyndos @ndonelly @bernsteincrisis @whitsonn @stefaniefrank @naomitrower @mike-stelzner @glengorham @rlmosca

  • Well, let’s see here. Exactly one day and 15 hours ago, I wrote congrats to our fearless leader for getting promoted to Ace.

Well, yon Campers, our leader has turned into a Whiz! Congrats again! Was that at 6500, oh, magical Wizard Lady Behind the Curtain?

The Whiz? I’m feeling an old Michael Jackson song coming on, but there I go showing my age again…. Well, Rockin’ Robin’s still following you wherever you lead. So far, it’s been a funtime Thriller!

  • Too funny! I keep thinking we are going to peak and bam, there’s another one, lol.

@atlantarobin – is that MJ song “Can’t Stop Till You Get Enough”?

  • @atlantarobin
My badge keeps changing. As of today, it says I’m a Guide, whatever that means. I want to be an Ace like you! That sounds like more fun.

  • @mike-stelzner
Since most of us seem to have no clue (or only a small clue) as to what these badges mean, or how — or when — you earn enough points to be awarded a different badge, might I suggest that the badge designations be added to the “points” area of our profiles.

This badge system reminds me of the days I used to teach high school. I started giving out gold stars and stickers on assignments and tests, like they do in elementary school, and the kids loved it. They were always comparing to see who got gold stars. Even though we’re living in grown up bodies, I think we’re all kids at heart.

  • @laurachristianson

I like keeping things interesting…  It will remain a mystery you all will have to solve :)

  • @laurachristianson

You said, “might I suggest that the badge designations be added to the “points” area of our profiles”, however if you look at, for example the profile of @deairby you will see her status is listed on her profile page.

Also, if you lick the points link on her page, it will show her points.

Or, did I miss your point?

  • @warrenveach

I meant that I wished they’d post a list of what all the different badges are on that page, and what each one means and how many points are required to reach the pinnacle of success. :-)

  • @laurachristianson

Ah, gotcha! The points/badges thing is kinda fun to watch. You post a few things and POOF!, you get a promotion!

  • And “poof,” there came a rocket to blow all our little doors off, lol! Rick, me thinks we have met a rocket man who is having a serious yet mysterious wee bit of grand adventure of his own! WeeHa, watch out, yall! That rocket go boom-boom!

    @deairby @dakotalocal @hazelmclellan @donpurdum @pamelasmalbein @cyndos @ndonelly @bernsteincrisis @whitsonn @stefaniefrank @naomitrower @mike-stelzner @glengorham @rlmosca @warrenveach @laurachristianson

  • @atlantarobin

Initially, I was just doing what I have done on other sites. If someone accepted or sent a “friend request”, I’d respond with a note back.

At first, I was doing it through the “Messages”, but it was pretty time-consuming to do it that way, so I started using the “Activity” ticker and respond to the “Warren and XXX are now friends”. It was much quicker as I could just go up the list instead of going to each profile and sending them a private message.

I wasn’t even thinking about the points, but then, all of a sudden, I noticed my name on the Leaderboard, and started looking at the Points.

That’s when I realized the Activity out-pointed the Messages 10-1.

However, with that being said, although I don’t know when it was changed, I have noticed that we no longer get points for posting in the Activity threads,

So for now, I’ll keep acknowledging the friendships the way I have been, I just won’t be getting any points for doing it.

Which is ok, because I don’t get anything for telling friends IRL I appreciate them either. Just a warm, fuzzy feeling…… :-)

    @deairby @dakotalocal @hazelmclellan @donpurdum @pamelasmalbein @cyndos @ndonelly @bernsteincrisis @whitsonn @stefaniefrank @naomitrower @mike-stelzner @glengorham @rlmosca  @laurachristianson

  • @mike-stelzner I am working on tracking the mystical scale. It’s the market researcher in me :) If anyone knows the point range when they moved up the scale, please let me know. I have started a spreadsheet. I am only to Innovator and figure that I need 500 pts (less now) to achieve the next level. Note that I know all the lower rankings (Scout, Adventuerer, etc.). I’m looking for Innovator and above. Love Ace and The Whiz.

@atlantarobin @warrenveach @laurachristianson @donpurdum I can post what I have so far this week sometime if that’s what this topic would like. I don’t have it at the office.

  • Is there somewhere where the different point levels are listed?  With everyone starting as “Scout” I think we all recognize that level, and some of us at “Adventurer” level saw that come up.

But what are the other levels and associated points and how the process works?  It might encourage some of us to participate more knowing how close we are to moving up or what it might take to reach the level that we are seeing some of our peers in.

    Love the great dialogue!

  • @yvetteleectsm

    Yvette,

That’s the mystery of the day! LOL

I believe @kc_kreativeis trying to track this now, but you can click on the profiles in the LeaderBoard area and when you get to their profile, click “Points” and you will see how many points they have at their current level.

Then you can compare that to your own points level and see where you points are coming from and what you can do to grow your point total.

  • Peeking in and smiling :)

Hmmm. Looks like you are all having fun here.  I know most of you from your theads and comments. Look how soon we have already begun to know each other!

@atlantarobin  Robin.  The Queen of Whiz.  Congratulations!  I like how much you are interacting with people here. Thank you for showing people how to do it!

@deairby  Go Dea!  Looks like you are at the top of the leaderboard.  How does it feel to be a Whiz?

@warrenveach  Look at you go Whiz Warren!  And where do you find the time to do it?

@dakotalocal Jon.  “Super Ninja”  LOL.  It will be fun to see where the badges continue to go.  I think there must be a level for “Mapmaker” as so many of the people here are creating the paths for other people to follow….

@donpurdum @glengorham @rlmosca   I love this platform and have been wondering if we will have access to using one like it for our own followers.

@pamelasmalbein  Hi, Pamela.  This world of internet marketing and social media is a maze.  The good news is that with all the changes we are dealing with, that we learn to go with the flow.  Now we expect those changes.  (we have been trained…)

@cyndos  Cindy.  I love surprises!  What kind of surprises do you think they will have?

@mike-stelzner  Michael,  Thank you for creating the SME Networking Club.  :)

@kc_kreative  Howdy Kristy.  I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.  How fun!  Soon you will be a Firestarter and now we know why!

Nice meeting the Movers and Shakers of the SME Networking Clubs.  I am looking forward to knowing many of you for a long time…..

  • @randithompson I totally defer to you, Randi, on how to attract and engage a wonderful discussion. You are the true master at this. Please note how Randi thoughtfully took the time to offer helpful comments and/or thoughts to so many contributors here. I noticed this in one of my first conversations on this site in his Don’t Spam Us forum, where he ran with each new thought, propelling it onward, and followed every twist and turn, always keeping things grounded, yet engaging. Thanks for being such a good mentor here to all of us, Randi.

@deairby  And congrats again to Dea Irby, head of our team-of-one advance party, for discovering yet another milestone on the trail ahead. After now accumulating more than 9,000 points on her journey, she has found a new badge has appeared on her camper uniform. Yes, folks, we now have a new Pundit leading our troop! Let’s all add Pundit MileMarker 9,000 to our Camper Club Maps now.

But, whew, Miss Dea! Sure looks like you’ve cut a pretty steep trail for us to follow now. I think I best sit down and catch my breath and take a sip from my canteen first! Think this little old lady will be needing a pony and an oxygen mask pretty soon!

  • @atlantarobin Thank you Robin. I like to promote people.  I have found that people really like to be recognized in this way. The best part about being here at the SME Networking Club is connecting with amazing people like you!

So you know,  I have not been able to change my profile photo here as it is the one I currently have for my Facebook profile.   I am not a guy.  LOL.  Hard to tell when my friend Sancho the Texas Longhorn is filling up that photo.  :)

  • @randithompson

Woopsy, Randi. I was, indeed, misled by the photo. Should have realized with the i on the end. Sorry, sweetie! Please forgive, lol!

And what the heckledoodles is going on with MY photo? I mean for some obviously unjust reason, I am now “leading” ahead of Miss Dea who is only 2,000 points AHEAD of me! Ahhhhhh, technology… what can you say. It seems poor Don has never taken his proper place, as he has been leading me for about a week now, but only saw him in the number two spot for less than a day. Geez!

Okey, dokey… somebody must have switched the rules and points on us again. All part of the intrigue, I suppose.

    Happy Networking, Fellow Campers!
    Robin Carlisle

  • Oh, wise one who I’d follow anywhere, congratulations on your swooft new Camper Badge. You are, indeed Miss Dea, a very wise Sage. How fitting!

    Robin Carlisle

    @deairby

  • @atlantarobin Robin, they said they wanted to make the leader board show the people with the highest points in the last 30 days – maybe that it is how it is arranged now? Dea has more total but you accumulated more in the last 30 days? Inquiring minds want to know!

  • Robin has been on “vacation’ from SME working on a project but I’m here everyday at least twice if not three or more times. Who knows how this is working?@abigailgorton

  • @abigailgorton @deairby

Yes, Abigail, that appears to be what is happening. So Dea, for a blip in time, I must have been more “active” than you, though I find that hard to believe.

So there are now two point systems. One we can see and monitor — the points we earn toward our camper badges, the cummulative points we’ve earned and can measure and compare to our fellow members.

Then there’s the new system of points, earned secretly, with no tally visible to any of us and no visible beginning or end in which to earn a place on the LeaderBoard. I just hunted down the January 17th announcement of the formal change they posted in Kristi’s “Getting Started” guide, though it was discussed a few weeks back in private without input from the membership. I’m OK with the change on one level, but we’re not being told which points count and when the dates on which they begin and end.

I would hope only forum creation and forum postings are counting in this new “game” or else older members will be at a great disadvantage if they worked hard to “friend” new members early on.

And I do hope they find a way to reveal the “points” being earned for the LeaderBoard as now we’re all just left to guess. In the past when mistakes were made in point tallies, we learned that all mistakes must be fixed by hand, so I think it’s important to make these points visible to all. I believed that was what would happen, but apparently not so far.

Hope they fix this omission. I would have loved to know why I was in the top spot for a while and the points it took to be there. I’m quite sure others would like to know, too. Since Dea was right, I was on a working vacation for almost a week, I’d be interested to know just how I got to be there when I went inactive for a while.

All just part of the camper point intrigue, fer sher!

    Robin Carlisle

  • are we having fun yet? @atlantarobin

  • The entire point system mystery is quite intriguing and definately a mystery worth solving. I ‘d like to pick up this thread and see where the guess work has progressed to. Wouldn’t it be something if we are all secretly writing a mystery fantasy novel? :)

  • @abigailgorton @durkbarton @deairby

Durk, so we’re all writing a mystery fantasy novel? Ok, Miss Dea, yes, we are now having fun again, thanks to Durk! LOL! What a little intrigue won’t do to brighten my little day! Thanks, Durk, I needed that! You are too cute!

    Robin Carlisle

  • Just got a note from Mike Stelzner in another Forum regarding the point system, some bug cures in the Beta stage, and some helpful advice. At the risk of getting dinged for having duplicate content here, please Mr. Moderator, this really will be helpful to those in this forum and is not meant to game any system. I’m just posting this because the likelihood of anyone here seeing Mike’s post in another location is pretty low. So bare with me on this, okey dokey? Here’s Mike’s helpful info:

The system is working and all bugs for points have been ironed out.

    A few things to note:

    • 10 points for replying in a club forum (applies only to first reply. For example: …[you] will not receive any points for [your second or subsequent] post).

Also, if you started the forum thread, you won’t get points for replying within the thread.

The leaderboard: Robin, I communicated to you via private messages and also posted it in the news section on the main page the following: The leaderboard now ONLY looks at activity over the last 30 days, not total points.

And to your point in your reply, yes we MUST adjust things as we go along.  We are in beta and nothing is set in stone.  As with any service we want to optimize this as we go along to ensure the best possible experience for all.

In addition, we are removing people from the leaderboard who are clearly gaming the system.  In fact, I just did that yesterday.

At the end of the day, this is a networking club, not a game.  We want people here first and foremost who want to partake in great discussion, help others, network and learn.  Anyone who cares more about the leaderboard than what I said in my prior sentence really ought to ask themselves why they are here.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

Okey, dokey! I appreciate Mike’s comments and hope they’re helpful to you, too. And he’s right — at the end of the day this is an AWESOME discussion, learning, and networking club, not a game.

And while the point system is a fun little distraction with an ongoing bit of intrigue egging us all onward, I know that I am definitely here because of the vast learning and sharing opportunities these Clubs offer me, as well as the overwhelming sense of gratitude for having found a place with so much expertise represented here.

Every day, I am completely in awe of the system Mike Stelzner and his team at SME has brought together in this one little site. Doubly in awe over the fact this site is free! Thanks to everyone on the SME team for bringing all of us here and gifting us with so much value in one place right from the beginning.

That is truly the treasure at the end of this little scouting adventure. And that true prize was here for us the moment we arrived.

Now, onward ho, fellow campters! There’s much networking on our and travels ahead! See you on the trail!

  • Kristi Hines posted a very helpful forum yesterday entitled “New to the blogging club or have a how-to question, check here.”

It’s a great update in outline form that brings together a lot of frequently answered questions I keep seeing asked in various forums.

Though this is posted in the Blogging Club, it’s most certainly applicable to all the clubs. And with all the improvements made during Beta, it’s nice to review all the updates in one spot. Hope yall find it useful.

  • @atlantarobin Whew, nowthat the whirlwind has died down I can post an impression. To my perception we have hitched our wagon onto a star of insight and encouragement. I, for one, am having enormous fun while learning to thread the waters of suggestion and conjecture. I am at once overwhelmed by facility presented and encouraged by similar. I intend to carry on the trekking on this adventure, to a complacent plateau, happy camping to all.

  • @atlantarobin @dakotalocal @donpurdum @cyndos @rlmosca @pamelasmalbein @mike-stelzner

don’t you guys think, we shall list ranks here, to test the knowledge of our members in the club, have a look here to list the rank list if you wish –> http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/small-business/forum/topic/funknowledge-time-can-you-list-all-the-membranks-of-sme-club/

  • Hey, yall, I’m thinking about Miss Dea’s next badge.

    Watcha think?

Grand Poobah? Keeper of the Rock? Tomb Raider? Big Tent Potentate? Foremost Fungus Amongest? (That one came from a real college office a friend once had in our theatre group, no kidding).

So what do yall think our future unkown badges will be? Any best guesses? Any outrageous ones?

So Miss Dea, what do you think your next badge will be?

    Tag! You’re it!

    Robin Carlisle

  • The next one…it is Savant, hoping that’s not short for Idiot Savant! @atlantarobin @moinshaikh @durkbarton @abigailgorton @dakotalocal @randithompson @warrenveach @yvetteleectsm @kc_kreative @dakotalocal

  • @deairby congrats!

  • @deairby I just checked your points and was wondering when you were going to hit your next status level.  @atlantarobin I have a list of the ranks in a spreadsheet at home. I can post w/o the point scales (some are guesstimates) this week.

  • @deairby    Hey, dear Leader, all the treasures I love are at least a wee bit autistic, so I know you must be a wee bit, too! And let be the first to tell you what an oh so good thing that really can be! Cool, now you’re trekking in genius savant territory!

@kc_kreative   And Miss Kristy, that would be so great. Yes, please do post your Camper Badge Chart here! That would be such a help to us all!

    Robin Carlisle

  • @kc_kreative  But I also think even your guesstimates would be a great addition; that is, if no one objects.

@deairby Miss Moddie Dea, whatcha think?

  • They are listed in another thread: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/small-business/forum/topic/funknowledge-time-can-you-list-all-the-membranks-of-sme-club/ @atlantarobin

  • @deairby Good catch Dea! That was a fascinating read. I can post with points, though not sure when you hit Savant. Last I checked you were at 11k+.  I was happy to make Guide over the weekend. My new job is taking my time these days (well, ok prepping for the May conference to be exact!).

  • WOW! Just catching up on this thread.  I seem to have missed out on a lot of intrigue!! I didn’t realize just how important those badges are to some people. Anyone can “game” any point-based system with a little bit of effort. Just ask a bunch of self-serving questions and viola, you’re grandmaster. Now what?

I hope we’re not losing sight of the overriding networking objective of these clubs. After all these badges have little value outside the confines of this platform.

  • I want to go back to being a Trailblazer. :-(

  • @mike-stelzner Okay, love the names and the red bar, but still hoping y’all share with us a levels list w/ name for each and what point total is the break for each level… Inquiring minds want to know (like me, who comes from the thermometer graph generation and loves to see the needle move) Plus, easier to explain incentives to clients we want to direct here!
Not that the mystery hasn’t been fun and engaging… but folks are spending a lot of time looking and not working, lol…

  • @sharijstauch

If you dig around you’ll find them.  However we won’t be revealing that information.

  • Sigh :)

  • Hiya Folks.

I asked this same question and someone asked it before me too.

They (the powers that BE) are keeping the cave entrance covered on this one, but several folks here have a pretty good handle on it.

Look around and find those threads.  Some lists are posted with points.  I’ve been told the lists and points may not be completely accurate but are quite close.

It’s a treasure hunt. Seek, and you shall find. Heh.

    ;D

  • and now at 18500, we have Exemplar @kc_kreative

  • @deairby I noticed that update this morning :) Keep it going!

  • Congrats Dea!

No one deserves it like you do. ;D

  • When I first achieved the level of “Guru”, I had to chuckle as I’ve certainly never been called that before. Or accused of being one, as the case may be.

But now I see that I’ve left that designation behind and have now moved on to being a “Master”.

That may still be a bit of a reach, but I do feel a bit more comfortable with my current title as one of the definitions in Webster’s is, “a youth or boy too young to be called mister“.

    Yep, I’ll take that…

  • @warrenveach nice! Go ahead, life is a journey!

  • @deairby Whew! You must be suffering from altitude sickness at this point, our ever worthy Exemplar! Oh, Miss Dea, how DO you cope?

  • the air IS thin, Miss Robin, see for yourself and join me! @atlantarobin

    love it, Warren, I mean Master Warren :) :) ;)  @warrenveach

  • I love it that Dea’s bar is only like 8 /10ths full, and she is the top of the list.   @deairby @atlantarobin

The places you will go Dr. Seuss

  • Aaaaaahhhh, I love to listen to a good soothsayer… I mean SeussSayer.

    @jasonwiser

  • Hiya Folks.

I wonder what happens when the bar is all the way full. Will Dea get a personal interview article or something to help her sell her cookbooks? (I have a copy, it’s wonderful!) Or a special plug of some kind?

Is anyone else close to her uh, stature here? I hate to harp on the subject, but some kind of reward seems like it should be at the end of that little rainbow!

    Heh. :D

  • @supereb i figured at the very least we could all like, share, +1, and tweet @deairby cookbook, but I could not find it. Dea, Get a link on your blog so we can help you get the word out!

  • @deairby @jasonwiser

I found two things since meeting Dea – She has sold “The Baron York” tea room and gift shop as she is moving to another city (town). However, she does have an FB Fan page here:  https://www.facebook.com/thebaronyork

And from Deas’ blog you can find a link to “The Baron York” where you can purchase her cookbook. Dea (Hi Dea :D ) could use a large image to link to the Baron York website, yes?

I’ve been talking to Dea behind the scenes here as I’d like to help her with her endeavors to not only sell her cookbook but to augment a speaking/lecture career (in the future).

  • blush, blush, blush @supereb @atlantarobin @jasonwiser I do need to add a link for the cookbook. Thanks for the props, EB

  • @deairby

My pleasure – I get excited when I see someone who has had the drive to get as far as publishing (proof reading aside, ahem) and advertising their own book, goods, etc. It takes a lot of study to get that far by yourself. It’s an admirable thing. :D

  • @deairby @supereb

Yall reminded me that I have been a poor wayward friend and fan here. Forgive me, Miss Dea. I went straight back to your site, commented on your “passons” and quest for focus, and signed up for your wonderful blog.

Ahhhhh, I feel awe betta now! My dear friend, Ima gonna miss you!

    Robin Carlisle

  • @deairby just sent a reccommendation to the one person I know who would love this. She knows lots of friends in the culinary / ladies social community. i dunno, let’s see. I hope it helps. Blessing to you.

( @atlantarobin what did you mean, “gonna miss ya?” is Dea outta here? or was that a personal note. )

  • way cool, Jason, thanks @jasonwiser Robin and I had the privilege of meeting IN PERSON for lunch (we live about 40 minutes apart, met here on SME) but I’m moving to North Carolina

  • I made Sage today at 9900 points in six weeks exactly. Whew! When I signed up here, Dea was at Sage. She’s far ahead of the rest of us but she deserves what she’s earned, eh?

I also wonder if they changed the points system lately. It took a very long time to get from Pundit to Sage, much more points than what someone posted a while ago in a different thread.

  • congrats on your sageness!! @supereb

  • Thank you @deairby – Sageness doesn’t feel any different unless you count the fact that I am a “green” (color) person and sage is one of my favorite colors. Heh.

    :D
