Has anyone out there built a responsive design website? We’re about to embark on our first, and I’m wondering what resources you might recommend we look at…are there any books, sites, webinars, etc. that talk about things to think about when building your first responsive website?

Below are some articles you should find useful. My website is responsive and I have 3 others that are in production. They are pretty much finished, just waiting on Clients to send content…
Note: in order for a responsive design to work the mobile device must recognize @media queries. Most do, but there may be a few out there that are older or haven’t incorporated support yet.
Besides the articles below I would suggest that you start thinking more in percentages and em’s and less in px.

However there is some confusion as your well versed in design maybe you could shed some light on those of us that are still trying to understand certain complexities in understanding.

Things to Consider
- Fixed websites have a set width and resizing the browser or viewing it on different devices won’t affect on the way the website looks.
- Fluid websites are built using percentages for widths. As a result, columns are relative to one another and the browser allowing it to scale up and down fluidly.
- Adaptive websites introduce media queries to target specific device sizes, like smaller monitors, tablets, and mobile.
- Responsive websites are built on a fluid grid and use media queries to control the design and its content as it scales down or up with the browser or device.
