  • I am looking for a good resource to have a real-time Twitter wall for a conference we are having to import chatter that is happening regarding our conference hashtag as well as the speakers who will be there.

Does anyone know of a good service for me to utilize?

  • @craigdesmarais  Twitter?  No really, I’m not understanding  what are you trying to achieve. Maybe HootSuite? Or do you want it to be public and streaming on a website? If you do … what website platform are you using?

  • @amyhallbiz We want to have it streaming publicly from TVs and a projector for everyone at the conference to see.

  • @amyhallbiz @craigdesmarais  i think you are meaning like this http://www.tweetwally.com/blog/2009/11/25/2/introducing_tweetwally

we have discussed doing one but not actually put into practice as yet so have not tested out any… but if you also if you type tweet wall into Google loads come up!  Hopefully some people on here will come with more tried and tested suggestions …

  • I haven’t tried it but Tweet Wall Pro is suppose to be very good for this and they have very big clients. Hope that helps.

  • @mambamedia @jamesalonso I was looking for one we could put on big screen TVs and the Projectors.  We ended up finding this one: http://www.visibletweets.com Its awesome and free with great effects.  Not to mention simple and clean.

  • @craigdesmarais  personally i find it very hectic but that may just be me :-)

  • Thanks for the suggestion @craigdesmarais

  • Karen, I might just get into twitter with tweetwally. Thanks for the link, looks interesting.@mambamedia

  • @craigdesmarais Thanks for asking this question! I will check out the two services for our conference next week. During the breaks, the Board wants to put up the Twitter stream.

Will these services only follow your account (@ahaa) or will they be able to follow the hashtag (#AHAA2012), which is what I really want.

  • @craigdesmarais

Why couldn’t you just setup a computer w/TweetDeck (or Hootsuite possibly) and have a live search for the #? Then just have it projected on screens throughout the event.

  • @deairby you are welcome and have fun let me know how it goes!

  • @rich-brooks that could be done but we want to also moderate which tweets make it through to be seen by everyone.  Sometime people say some pretty dumb stuff or use the hashtag even though they are not at the event and such.

We are going to use Pro Presenter 5.  It’s a software that allows us to monitor and project a feed of tweets surrounding a certain hashtag or user.

  • @kc_kreative most services are able to follow a specific hashtag as well.  That is what we are doing for our conference tomorrow #Awakening2012.  Watch for it to trend!

  • @craigdesmarais I’ll keep an eye out. How did you decide to go with a hashtag so long? I wrestled with what to use for our conference and settled on the blah’er #AHAA2012 because it was shorter than #ListenUp2012 (our theme) or other similar ideas. Just curious….
p.s. We can’t use #ahaa as hashtag because it’s used for derogatory streams as well as it means something in another language (Swahili?).

  • @kc_kreative ha the hashtag wasn’t my idea lol.  Personally I would have gone with something like #AC2012 but it wasn’t my call.  We ended using s service Para Tweet that has paid versions that allow you to monitor and approve which tweets show up on the thread that way no bad or insulting tweets get through.

    Check it out: http://paratweet.com/

  • @craigdesmarais Thanks for the Paratweet note. I need to ask our producer what they used last year…

  • Just wanted to let @kc_kreative and everyone else know that ParaTweet worked very well at our event over the weekend.  It helped us monitor the conversation about our brand, hash tag and event insanely well.

There was another group using a similar hash tag with offending statements and such.  Paratweet allowed us to filter out those tweets so they did not show up on the big screen stream.

We will be using it again next year.

  • @craigdesmarais Thanks for the update Craig. We have people that use #ahaa for derogatory purposes; however, I’ve noticed that TweetDeck picks up all #ahaa, #ahaa2012 so I definitely do not want the former on the screen!

  • Gearing up for our conference this year again!  Using ParaTweet again!
