Real Time Data from Google Analytics (4 posts)

  • Has anyone tried out the Real Time Data from Google Analytics?

I just discovered it. I rarely have more than a handful of people on my site at any one point, but it’s cool to see where in the world they’re from, what pages they’re on, and how they got to my site…all in real time!

I wish it was easier to see more of the movement of each visitor so I could improve their experience, though.

  • I’m not really tracking anything at the moment, but it is funny when you see where people went. I like to follow up with people if I send a fair bit of traffic. The first time I tracked it was from a site that sent a lot of traffic to a Japanese to English translator which I found odd since the source post didn’t have what I saw as a logical connection to any type of translation.

  • I have of occasion used it and have found it interesting.  I found a log of the people were recently accessing one page in particular which kind of eluded me in the other reports.  That showed me that I needed to bulk up that page.  I found that that page in particular always came up on the first page during organic searches.

  • I have it open on my second monitor all the time and like to see the number go up and down.  I also use it to see popular pages and response/activity when I post something online with a link back to that page.
