There is an older book “It’s a Bunny-Eat-Bunny World: A Writer’s Guide to Surviving and Thriving in Today’s Competitive Children’s Book Market “.  You can find the book on Amazon.  This is probably the best resource for children’s book.  It is however, an older book.  But it’s a good start to give the friend an idea of what one needs to go through.
