  • Does anyone know how Pinterest determines what boards, pins…etc. show up on the first page of search results?

  • @pajannherr that’s still a mysterious question for many seo guys who have started pinteresting for better seo. but i guess its pins with most or big numbers of likes and have relevant keywords (hastags etc) in description box. Any insight from your end?

  • @pajannherr

I’ve been playing around with a few different strategies the past couple months and it appears to be based off a few different factors, as far as I can tell, which include clarity, information provided and completion.

  • Great question!  I’m interested in the answer also.  I am going to move this over to the Small Business Club since I know they’ve been discussing Pinterest over there. @pajannherr

  • @moinshaikh im  a  big  fan  of pinterest…with  1000 followers on  many of my  boards….and i think lots of  the  exposure to the pins   can  come  from    something besides  than   the  search words or  hash tags….  a  big  part  is  the  popularity of the   pinners…, in my world  it would  be trend setters like a magazine person or a famous  blogger, etc etc…   will automatically  draw   lots and lots of followers  , even  before they   make a  big  effort on their  actual  boards….and  even someone like me  can   present  my   boards  to   my  databases[ email  llist  and  facebook  for  example, both with  over  2000 names] and  get a  big  heADSTART   ON  BEING  REPINNED…

    thought this might  be  relevant

i thnk this is  part of the  seo  of pinterest…

  • @annfurnivall great findings mate. Definitely agree with your idea of hashtag. Its what make it work in seo

  • i hardly see any  hash tags in my   world…maybe   in my  world   we are  more  about  finding  neat  stuff than  being  found….the pleasure of  pinterest    more  than  thinking about the  rewards……or letting  them  come  naturally  thru  the   sharing…. i dont  use them  so far anyway….  or  watermarks….

with millions of  users i  wouldnt worry  too much  about the front page…from  what i see its  usually aimed at  women  and their  clothes and  cooking…

.i love my  front page with the new pictures  from   all the  folks i follow….its  kind of perfect  for  me…

  • @pajannherrI am wondering how it will be sured in future backlinking strategies.   I think as it gains in popularity it will add to search results, especially as social is becoming more ingrained into search algorithms.
