Pinterest Feedback (17 posts)

  • I recently started a pinterest page for my work at http://pinterest.com/fumcarlington/

I have some basic boards, but nothing that has really grown. I’d love any feedback on using pinterest specifically for a non-profit or church.

  • @comamy Hi Amy

Basically treat it like any other social network – get social, and share stuff that your target audience would want to see.

I have written a blog post on getting started with Pinterest as well for even more tips.

    Hope that helps!

  • i have a real popular  board about angels…. mostly   cement  statues  from  old  graves…. it has over 500  followers….

how about pinning  from others in  your  field..what are they doing? is it   popular in  your  field?     .and try and   pay attention to  what works  on other  church or  related    boards….. ….  how about photos of  the parts of  your  church…

when i started i  put links    on  my  facebook quite a bit…..  but  for me  it was a natural  since  its sweeping   thru   my  customer base like wildfire….  i like what they like  so it w as  easy to fit in…

  • Seek out others and repin from those with common interests. You may want to create a group board you can manage by inviting others with common interests to post to a selected board – use it as a community board.

  • HubSpot also has an awesome ebook on Pinterest that you may be able to glean some techniques for your boards.

How about a “potluck” recipe board for church members? Invite members to add to it with their favorite recipes!

  • I have created a Pinterest tab on Facebook pages and hope to create referral traffic between both platforms. There is a free app from Woobox for this.

OK, I don’t get Pinterest, but after reading this post (w/helpful embedded video) I ALMOST get it.

It’s a nice walkthrough of best practices, how to find out what content of yours is being pinned, and how to build a following.

Not specific to churches, temples or mosques, but I’m sure you take can take the content and bend it to your own needs.

  • @russellallert Good article. I’ll use it as a reference point when I set up my pinterest account.

  • @krmcgee Thanks for that! :)

Let me know how you go with it.

  • @russellallert You’re welcome. : )

I requested an invitation this morning, but don’t know how long it takes them to send out invitations.

  • @krmcgee DM me your email address and I will send you one.

    Russ

  • @russellallert

Hey, Russ. I tried DMing you but got an error message saying we’re not friends. I thought we were?

    KR

  • @krmcgee We are. Just sent you a message.

  • @russellallert

Okay, sent. I don’t know if my browser suffered a brain fart there or what. : )

    Thanks,

    KR

  • @krmcgee Sent. Enjoy! :)

  • @russellallert

    Thanks, Russ. I appreciate it. : )

  • @comamy Since I first started playing around on Pinterest, I started compiling a list of things to do/ideas. It’s a pretty long list though (about 49 items). I can email it to you or if you want to message me, I will copy and paste it. I don’t have a link, sorry.
