Pinterest! (15 posts)

  • Hi everyone!

I’m new here and really glad that I’ve found this forum. I work in a Brazilian advertisement agency (www.agenciaball.com.br) coordinating the market inteligence department, which is responsible for the online media planning.

My question is simple: how to use Pinterest to generate some buzz around a campain or brand?

Does anyone have used it with this purpose? Pinterest is growing fast and looks really promising in my opinion…

Thanks in advance for every single answer!

  • Rodrigo,

This post is more applicable to the Small Business forum since there are multiple topics within that forum regarding Pinterest user and answers.
Use of Pinterest for business really depends upon the business and how the different “pins” could benefit the business. I will defer to others in the Small Business forum to delve more into your questions.

  • our  business is  big on  facebook and naturally went   big on  pinterest..400 followers in a couple of weeks….. our  business is a store full of    visual treats, home  decorating   stuff, women customers  and  fun shopping..all super popular facebook themes….so the people who like the store   naturally  like  our  facebook and  easily  migrate  to our  pinterest…. its  a nice little  back and forth…making  pinterest a  nice  benefit  to  our store…in a  natural  organic  progression…

not  thinking  that  would  work   with most   businesses…

@rodrigoscherrer   does  your  business  have   anything along those lines…

  • Rodrigo, here is a link to an article in the SME newsletter and a very lengthy discussion in another thread about pinterest. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/26-tips-for-using-pinterest-for-business/http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/small-business/forum/topic/pinterest-for-small-business @rodrigoscherrer

  • Hello RodrigoI have recently started using Pinterest just a few weeks ago. It is very interesting and easy to use.

I do agree with Dea about Pinterest on SME newsletter. Because after reading that article I now understand how to apply Pinterest into my business.

    Have a GREAT Day!

  • @annfurnivall Ann, Please share a link to your Pinterest page. I’d like to take a look, as one of our clients is a retail outlet similar to what you’re describing “tore full of visual treats, home decorating   stuff, women customer…”

I need ideas for how I can help them showcase their wares on Pinterest; I think it would go over well.

On my own Blogging Bistro Pinterest account I pin social media infographics, which is fun, but very different than home decorating!

  • here it is…  http://www.pinterest.com/annatgreenoak/    its about half me…angels, girls just want to have fun, garden…etc….but mostly about the store and  our  subjects.

i think  the  crossover   from  our  facebook  has  been  huge…. ive posted  the link on our page about once a week…  ive  been on about a month…and  have  seen   lots of hits to the website….lots of  talk about it in the store…as in :  im buying this for my pinterest project…i love your  boards, we like the same thing…etc etc…or theyre making  something and i  know  just what  because weve seen the same  pictures…  its  really  affecting   our  business and t he  trends  whirling  around us…

its  great  but i dont have a real plan on it  yet…

  •   @laurachristianson iposted my site above… the  interest in pinterest  is huge   among  the people i  sell to and know on line…so  there was huge  buzz within my circles….  and i  have   lots of   great pictures, and  lots of  conversations all the time on  facebook and in the store…..  so all this   was  really   natural….also  we, me and my  customers  are  totally into  all this  stuff…. i didnt  really promote it much, but  also  did  offer to  invite  lots of people,,,,back a month ago when it  was  super hard to   register…i would  really  reccommend it…

i saw your  boards…  reminded me of  wonderful   science   infographics we  had in a gradeschool  book…

at this point im against   putting prices on our  things  …  but i  sure put our  website on  everything i can  from  the store…putting  prices on  the items  would  be  over the line  for me…so far..lol..

  • Hello Rodrigo,
You are right Pinterest is picking up fire very rapidly. And can b e a good source to get some referral traffic for our business sites and blogs.

    But the question is how?

So here’s my answer how i use Pinterest to get traffic for my blog and also some small leads for my small business…

1- Set Your Pinterest Profile by including your business details like
    - Business Name
    -Business Site
    -Business Social Presence
    - Business Logo if Possible

2- Use About Us section to its best.

3- Create specific Pinboard for your interest as well as for your business

4- Create Pinboard for your favorite clients

5- Create A pinboard for client testimonials.

    6- Engage with other users

    7- Follow bigwigs

8- Bring pinterest to your blog or website

9- Tag other users in your pin by adding this in your pin description @username.

10- Write some catchy description for your  pins.

11- Write interesting and attractive names for your  pinboards.

12- Pin variety of stuffs like videos articles and other stuffs. Don’t just stick with only image.

13- Use pinterest browser pin it button.

    14-  Always be interesting.

  • @annfurnivall Thanks for sharing the link to your boards, Ann. Very nice!

  • Seems everywhere you look, there’s a new how to Pintrest article, or 10 best ways to use Pintrest.

  • First of all, thanks for the answers!!!

@annfurnival, my client is an University that is willing to attract more applicants to its undergraduate courses. They usually are quite young (18-24 yo) and I’m trying to figure out how to reach them using pinterest (and other social and traditional medias of course).

@deairby, the link you sent is no longer online… Do you know where I can find this article?

Thanks a lot @romysingh for the “how to”!

@tinakyei , can I have a look at your Pinterest?

    An awesome week for everybody!

  • @romysingh this is a great list, Romy, thanks for sharing it
