online shop and integration of payment gateways (6 posts)

  • I’d appreciate your thoughts on the benefits of a) hosted or redirect of payment gateway versus b) integrated or remote integration.

    Thanks in advance,Susan

  • Can you be more clear on what you are trying to do? Also need more puzzle parts – whose the merchant processor?

  • @glad2be

Agree w/@mitch-rezman…a little more info would be helpful to making a recommendation. :)

  • Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.

For this project I want to create a website with online shop and blog to support and promote our bricks and mortar business. The site will be regional with a domain.ie
So, I’m looking at wordpress with shopp as cart and realex payments as the payment gateway. I’m not expecting huge traffic…but aim to build.
Realex give the option of payments being integrated into the site or redirected. From a customers point of view I ” think” that staying on site would be more attractive but then have to balance that with the limitations of the site and traffic and the need to get a ssl certificate and all the subsequent ect’s.

  • @glad2be I’d say that redirecting is easier to implement and gives the responsibility of card processing to the provider. So I’d start with this option. And if you figure out that it’s not enough, I’d integrate it to the website.

  • @milan-steskal , Thanks, for taking the time to answer, I think I’ll be taking your advice.
