New Twitter Self-Serve Ad Platform for Small Businesses (9 posts)

  • Hey all – I just read about Twitter’s launch of the new self-serve ad platform being backed by AMEX…

Have any of you looked into this yet? Have any insight to share? etc.

  • @ferrisstith From what I’ve seen, target date is end of March. I sighned up with AMEX and basically got a message “We’ll send details later”

I did read that at launch it will be available to AMEX customers and US based businesses only

  • “US based businesses only”  Well what about Canada?

  • @dongrandy The implication was that was for launch, and the rest will follow if sucessful. I might be wrong, but the AMEX cardholders may be first, and I do not think they are geographically restricted.

  • @ferrisstith: I hadn’t. That’s interesting, b/c I thought the Twitter ad buys were way too much for any small biz.

@dongrandy: I’m pretty sure Canada still isn’t part of the US. But we’re trying! ;)

  • Hey Rich, we are neighbours, my home town is Halifax, about 8 hrs drive from Bangor.  We spent alot of time in Bethel @ Sunday River, awesome resort!

  • @rich-brooks this is supposed to be a small -biz target, but no costs were mentioned yet. I did read in one article they seem to be trying to go slowly because they  had a lot of trouble getting the big brand stuff right.  I didn’t follow that really closely at the time.

  • I’ll be interested to see what they do . . . and what the cost is.  Twitter turned me off when they offered advertising for such a massive amount of money that our little businesses couldn’t even consider it.

  • I emailed my contact over at Twitter about this new platform – here’s the response I got:

    Hi Ferris,

Thanks for reaching out! As you heard, today we  announced a partnership with American Express to give American Express Cardmembers and merchants early access to our new advertising solution for small businesses. The early access will be available in late March to eligible small businesses who have never advertised on Twitter before.

Please note that this advertising solution is for part-time marketers and not the same robust suite of products and analytics that we discussed previously. Small business advertisers also will not have the opportunity to work with a Twitter account team for campaign consultations.

If you have any additional questions about the announcement, please let me know!
