New Twitter Layout (10 posts)

Topic tags: new twitter, Twitter
  • I visited a client today to do some Twitter training but something very strange was happening! The new Twitter layout was there when I went onto twitter.com (I know they are rolling this out at the moment), which was fine. I assumed that the upgrade had now gone live in my country (UK) but when I then posted about the new layout on Facebook, when I got home I had a couple of people say that they were still seeing the old Twitter. So (I guess I should have checked this before I posted) I went onto my computer at home and sure enough all I can see is the old Twitter layout with no obvious way to get the upgrade.

Has anyone else come across this situation and have you figured out how to get early access to the new twitter?

If you already have the new Twitter layout, how are you finding using it?

  • @chatmarketing We are wondering about the updates in some of the other postings in the forums as well! Not only is the format switching but they will be adding business page capabilities for all business users soon. Any updates on either of these would be much appreciated!

  • @alexandrabriggs too many similar titled threads, it is hard to keep tabs on where you read what! I did a quick scan of the most recent topics to see if anyone else had made a similar comment but didn’t notice anything.

Will be interesting to see people’s feedback on the Twitter upgrade issue!

  • I still have the old twitter… I thought I saw it one day on my account, but I must have been dreaming. I am going to check the accounts that I administer.

  • Old Twitter, new Twitter…what do you think the pluses and minuses are?  For example, I heard that the # and @ components will be diluted in the new version.  Thoughts?

  • @liz4comm Not really had a lot of time to “play” with the new version as I only saw the live version for the first time today. At first glance I thought it was a bit confusing but by the end of the day I was quite liking the simplicity.
From memory though, I think the new Twitter will make it easier to find relevant people to follow, so that is definately a plus.
I am sure it will be good once I get used to all the nuonces – never a dull moment with social media!!

  • Easier and simpler is good, Alan!

  • @chatmarketing Not all of my pages have switched to “new Twitter” yet but I would love to hear more about your impressions and ideas on the functionality and use!

  • @alexandrabriggs Will happily share my thoughts once I have had more keyboard time. Do you know if there is a way to switch to the New Twitter?

It will be very interesting when we can create company pages on Twitter. With recent developments it looks like Twitter is trying to be more like Facebook and Facebook more like Twitter!
