Need Help to Get a Forum Up and Running! (6 posts)

Hi everyone,
It has been a week that we open our forum to the public but only a few people posted. This would be one of our strategies to drive traffic to our small business site.
I put a lot of work and sent out thousands of e-mail invitations. Am I actually missing something here? Here’s our RoadTrucker’s Trucking Forum if you want to take a look. Any input would be really much appreciated.
I’m just kinda worried that the forum will eventually die if there’s not much activity going on. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I assuming you invited your FB fans? Do Truckers even have time to review sites like these? Are truckers mobile? Can they access through a mobile phone? Promotion in other forums can give you maybe a start.. Never ran a forum, I would ask Social Media Examiner like the moderators on what you. I reviewed your forum and it looks good… I might have a few tools that could help, it would be no cost to try it out. PM me so I can give you the links. Thanks

Thanks so much, Preston @prestonodenbrett And yes, we’re thinking of having the Forum Runner on so we can go mobile, too. I would say no, truckers don’t really have time, so if we go mobile, the forum can be much accessible. I just added you as a friend so please confirm and thanks again for the links.

Forums take a LOT of work to make happen. You’re probably going to be pushing a boulder up a hill for a minimum of six months before you really get any traction.
Do you have a community manager? Are you having that person post topics each day to stimulate conversation? Does this person have credibility in your community? Are they reading through every post and engaging with the few members you do have?
Just a few questions to get you thinking…

- Great thinkers! Few members should not scare people. Rather it should be allowed so that more members would follow. I quite enjoy it. We only hope to see our collective interests achieved within this social forum. For instance my book which is about to be released at the end of this month titled, ESCAPE FROM BONDAGE TO FREEDOM which can be obtained at http://www.pdbookstore.com/comfiles/pages/Adamu.shtml – will enormously benefit from this Social Forum. I therefore suggest that the forum be left to achieve its purpose – and if this so, then the objective would have been realized. Thanks.
