National Pickle Day – What Are You Doing to Capitalize? (2 posts)

  • Yes. National Pickle Day is a real holiday, at least here in the US.

Although, I’m not sure what you have to do to qualify as an “official holiday.”

In any case, for some reason, my company has latched onto this holiday like it’s a new Xmas. We do have some people who are passionate about pickles, which is where it all started, but suddenly it’s become this thing.

Just wondering if you’ve ever looked at “official holidays” that may relate to your brand (National Bosses Day, Peanut Butter Lovers Month, etc.) and work that into your social media branding.

I did just stumble upon this list of bizarre and wacky holidays (which ironically doesn’t include National Pickle Day) if you’re looking for inspiration.

Yeah, I went through this quite a few years ago – playing off the odd holidays.

For National Pickle Day?  I could pull out an old VCR tape of The Andy Griffith show – “The Pickle Story” – and watch that (I have one VCR player in the basement that still works)  — would that do? Heh.

But for social media interaction? Probably I won’t play that “holiday” game anymore, unless someone else brings it up.  Been there, done that. :)
