  • Sorry not about small business not no general group

At work right now using my profile with all my work links and when i comment on post, create posts it is about/ from my experience at FreeOnlineGames. But i was at home last night and wanted to use these clubs for my personal sites and interact, promote and discuss my own projects not work.

So my question is can i set up another account that has my own links i can use at home or is that a no no? If i can would i use the same user information or not?

  • @pacey

Ian, we suggest you use one account, much like you would on LinkedIn or Facebook

  • @mike-stelzner Is there a way on our personal account profiles that we could add additional Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, and Google+ pages? For the company I work for I have multiple of each set up and would like to have them posted to hopefully get tips and help from other club members. I know I asked this in the activity board a while back but I think it got lost in the mix. Thought I would ask again in this posting as semi-relevant.

  • @mike-stelzner i think that will get a little confusing not only for myself but other users when i talk about FOG and then other projects that are not listed on my profile especially when talking about facebook pages, google+ and tiwtter.

But ok if that is your wishes i will simply only use SMEC in work time.

Something like what @alexandrabriggsbut suggested could also be good maybe a section for work and one for personal or tabs on the profile for each could be good.

You can list anything you want in your actual bio description.

Just remember that this a networking club.  And that means networking with people, NOT businesses.

At the end of the day you are a person and need to decide how to use this.

You can link to you personal Twitter account or your business Twitter account if you happen to have two, but you need to choose one.

  • @mike-stelzner hmmm choices choices, well i guess i will just leave it as is. Wouldnt really be able to justify using it at work with all my personal pages in lol

  • @mike-stelzner That makes sense. I appreciate the response. I was just curious. A couple of my connections on here have checked out updates I have made to different pages and I thought it might be nice to get some feedback on the others. But i totally understand your point. I just appreciate the clubs in general! These are so great and I have helped and been helped so much through my fellow campers! Thank you so much for developing this network!!!

Mike, I’m glad you said it that way, :we’re all people, not businesses. That reminded me about that case flowing through the courts about who owns your Twitter/Facebook fans — you or your employer/client. So perhaps we should all think of the future, when we break up with or retire from our employer/client/partners, when choosing personal or business links to put on personal networking sites. Here’s where you can shine on your own merit. So make sure you own what you do here, if you can, by using your own links. Especially when your company has not paid the membership fee. That’s my thoughts on it.

  • @atlantarobin Great point Robin! I’m now debating pulling off my Facebook page link from my profile and just keeping all the links to my personal pages and accounts!

  • As young as you are, it’s a good investment strategy for you, Alexandra. Develop and hold onto any piece of virtual real estate you own.  Your contacts, your followers, your websites — all of it has financial value. Don’t just give it away to any employer or client without an adequate return on your investment. You’re building equity. Build it in your own name, rent it to clients for a fee with a clear written contract, but hold on to the real estate and all its legal entitlements.
