More traffic to my blog. (9 posts)

  • Hi everyone. I’m excited to be here. I have a blog that I have had for a couple of months. I am getting people coming to my site but no engagement. Should I be marketing more. You can check my site at http://www.provirtualhelper.com and let me know what you think.Thank you Felicia

  • @felicia-armijo I went to your site.  I had nowhere to make comments.  I see you have a Wordpress site.  You should enable “Comments”.  You can find that under Settings – Discussion.  And also enable anyone to post but set up the “moderation” so you can filter out spam and just approve valid comments.  I see you are inviting people to comment, but all that is offered is sharing or bookmarking the post.

When people can commnt, then you can engage them in further discussions.  They may also add links in their comments which helps establish links to your site and others.  Good for SEO.

@dcoville001 brings up an important point.

Also, your post titles are too vague to get a lot of search engine traffic…you’ll need to get more specific. I wrote a post a while back on How to Title Your Blog Posts for Maximum ROI. That might help focus your titles.

Also, you’re a VA. Why not write blog posts about specific social media tasks that businesses could outsource to a VA?

    Good luck!

  • Hi @felicia-armijo

I do know you are asking about traffic but I will also suggest you proofread your entries carefully at your blog, especially if you are looking to swell your client base. Errors at your blog will not look good to potential clients.

Some good answers here too by Diane – great articles by Rich!

  • Thank you everyone for the great advise. E N Brown I do need to start concentrating on blog entries for errors. I know that is one of my downfalls. Thank you guys. I look forward to engaging. :)

  • Your message is not clear – are you a virtual assistant or a social media marketing agency? – if you’re an SM manager where the badges to your FB and twitter pages? I don’t know what a face manager is - You have one call to action BUT pink font on grey is tough on an old guys eyes like mine. Because i usually have dozens of windows open I “bumped” the window your blog was in on the right and SME on the left. Your call to action banner was not visible until I expanded the page. Personally I don’t download “Free Reports” anymore unless I know the author. I think you’d be better off with “get a free quote”  lastly  I’ll second the lack of comments but also as you scroll down, your only call to action remains at the top of the page. I’d add a pic AND a call to action form/button to every blog post

  • @rich-brooks hey rich i really liked your article on your blog..13 killer tipsi have been going on a massive hunt myself and finding answers to how google is destroying hits on people’s websites and de-ranking them for over using keywords and backlinking.. so now i am messed up- do i focus on keywords in my blog or think that one day google may destroy my chance of good serp rating?

  • Hi @felicia-armijo!  You got a lot of good advice.  I totally agree with @rich-brook.

You article titles are too vague.  For example, the first title I read was “Be honest with yourself”.  Why should I be honest with myself?

A better title and one that would make me want to keep reading would be:

“Be honest with yourself if you want more friends”

Have you started any link building campaigns to increase your page rank?

Social media is an incredibly competitive keyword.  You can still get a lot of organic traffic if you use long-tail keyword phrases.  At any rate, I’ve shared your link on three different social media and bookmarking sites to get you a few back links :-)

  • Hello @felicia-armijo,

To add something else I would say:Look at your analytics statistics. Do you have a high bounce rate? If you do, that means you’re probably not reaching the right audience.

About comments, it would be interesting if you add the Facebook comments widget.

Titles are a key factor, not only for search engines but also because according to recent studies, people on Twitter usually share content (retweet) without even reading the article, which means that the single title got their attention. :)

    Keep going!

    Best!Max.
