The biggest challenge I’ve experienced is dealing with Flash and videos as not all platforms (iPad, iPhone) support these. As time goes by, this is becoming less of an issue with the development of new technology.

Avoid Click to Call. I spent a lot of money on pocket dials which aren’t supposed to happen but do.

If nothing else, your business should have a mobile-friendly website. I’ve worked with DudaMobile, and am currently paying $9/month for the premium version (no ads, DudaMobile branding, and features like click-to-call), but there are other platforms available, e.g MobiFuse.com.

That is great, we are working on developing an app for a couple of sports teams as another channel to sell tickets through. It is just incredible how far mobile marketing has come. It was not long ago that the RAZR was the coolest device on the market.

Websites need to have a mobile version made (Im working on an app to do that), and if you get an app built (although I dont recommend that everyone gets a native app), then make sure you can do “push notifications”. I believe this is the way forward for sending messages and its cheaper than text messaging.

As technology advances small business owners need to have their website mobile friendly. It all depends on what you are looking for. You may start with a certain fee then other charges may apply if you wish to add to your package. Some charge also with the amount of traffic the site recieves while other packeges offer one set fee for utilizing all items such as map, click to call, easy edit etc. It all comes down to what is easier for you. Flash is an issue when creating mobile sites.. As a mobile web designer we find ways to accomidate the client.
