MailChimp: Computer freeze when Mailchimp is opened (4 posts)

  • Hello Everyone,

I have a MailChimp question. I’ve taken this issue directly to Mailchimp and they are saying it’s a subscriber issue… but I have multiple subscribers with the same issue.

Here’s the problem… When people open my Mailchimp newsletter with Outlook it causes their computer to crash. It sounded like a virus to me so I had an IT pro look at the email and MailChimp look a t the email. They both say the email is virus free. MailChimp now says it’s because Outlook can’t open an email with HTML and text capabilities. But I only added the text capabilities after MailChimp said that would solve the problem.

I’m wondering if the issue is caused because I replicate the newsletter to create it rather than creating new from a template each week.

This is the first issue I’ve had with MailChimp in 2 years so I still love MailChimp…but now we’ve had our first “disagreement”. So the Chimp isn’t looking so handsome any more.

    Warmest Regards,
    Amy Hall

  • @amyhallbiz Wow! I support many customers on MailChimp and none have reported this problem. You could try creating a new newsletter from the template just to start fresh again (instead of replicating); just to try.

    I don’t think it’s a virus.

I know they’ve had some server work going on recently and maybe that’s the issue?  Has it been just your recent newsletter? Have you tried sending another?

I personally use MS Outlook. You can email me a test if you’d like and I can see if I can open it. I’m on a Mac. I can test from a PC as well. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to put my email in here (this message) but my primary email is not the one listed here on this club as it was causing problems with receiving email updates from here….so you can go to my profile and my site and get my email/contact info there if you’d like me to test it for ya :D

  • I also use MailChimp and the only problem I’ve encountered is not being able to edit it in Internet Explorer. Yet, when I use Google Chrome, no problem…or vice versa, can’t remember which browser gave me the issue, but it wasn’t a MailChimp issue.

Please keep us up to date as I use MailChimp with all my clients as well!

    Hi Ladies,

MailChimp finally found the problem. I had a google calendar “save the date” button on the newsletter. Somehow I missed an http:// when I cut and pasted from the google calendar button maker into the MailChimp template. That is what was causing the calendar portion of Outlook to crash. (Another reason to not use Outlook!)

So now it’s all better and fixed. Yea! MailChimp!!!
