LinkedIn Video Tip (14 posts)

  • Just learned today that you can easily embed video into your LinkedIn Profile using Google docs and the Google Presentations app on LinkiedIn.

Just open a PPT presentation in Google Docs, insert a video, and load it up via the app.

I’m not seeing it used much now – so its a great attention getter.

Here’s a link to my LinkedIn profile to give you a look.  Note:  The video is only visible on the full profile – scroll down if necessary to open it up.

I haven’t yet worked out how to move the video above my WP content.

  • Very cool. You can embed a YouTube video on a business page’s product tab, but it is buried in the right hand column. This is much better!

  • @jeff-korhan I love that trick. Stole it from Lewis Howes, myself.

I actually did it by embedding a video into a preso at Slideshare and then embedding that.

Mine appears just below the bio. Is that what you’re trying to do?

  • Ah, I see that. So, it works with both Slideshare and Google Presentations.

While it sets up more nicely with Slideshare – centered, framed, etc.   I think I may stick with Google Presentations because when folks see YouTube – they’ll quickly know it is indeed a video.

  • I did view Rich’s– does it also work with Vimeo? Now that they have a corporate membership, which is reasonably priced, I have some clients who want some videos only there because it eliminates ads.

  • Hi Jeff,

I was impressed with it, I also really liked the content on the video. We need more of this in the Daily Deal Industry.

  • I used Slideshare for mine, and for a client also. When you edit your profile, any of the apps with a blue bar at the top (like slideshare) can be moved higher in your profile. Just drag and drop them where you want them to appear .

I used Google Presentations to make a little porfolio of some white papers, and like that, too–didn’t know you could use it for video though!

  • @joanmuschampfagnani There aren’t ads on YouTube unless you’re a partner, and even then you can choose to not have ads show on specific videos.

    Unless I’m wrong. Anyone?

  • @jeff-korhan

    Cool!

Something else here, you can paste in YouTube or Vimeo links (most) and they will render in the player mode when you hit reply.

    Example:

  • Well I guess it is kinda buggy

  • Thanks @mike-stelzner!

I believe you are correct on the ads @rich-brooks
@aprylparcher It’s too bad LinkedIn won’t allow us to organize all of the profile content.  They treat “applications” as one module.  So, the only way I could get my video above my Wordpress feed was to deactivate WP, activate the video, and reactivate WP.

In other words, new applications get added below those that preceded them. It seems the other way around would make more sense.

  • @jeff-korhan, yes–I wish we could have more leeway on the LI profile as well. Good workaround on getting your video above WP. Yes, I think they have the new app thing backwards!

  • Very cool on LI video
