  • Hi Folks, I am putting together a LinkedIn presentation and want to showcase companies that are using the Company Pages well. Feel free to also say why you have chosen a particular company i.e what you think they are doing well!

  • @chatmarketing such a good  question  alan…

. heres my take  from the other end of the spectrum….  i see linked in  as a place for job seekers….more than   a place to find  retail customers….and  thats what im  looking  for… , so i  dont think  linked in  would be a good  suggestion  for a  business like mine….   .i dont think my target  audience would  go to linked in to see where they wanted  to go  shopping   ….or where to have a girls day out….

..i never  have any service work  done over the internet…so im not looking  for   internet  marketers or service   people….

i did  sign up  and  get   some  requests  but  i never  do anything with it….

but if i were looking  for a job or  building a career i would   thnk  linked in  would  be  great..

  • Michael Stelzner from here (SME) has a LinkedIn page for people attending the upcoming Summit event. It is by invitation so I don’t know if you can go and see it. The group is Social Media Success Summit. Hope this helps, Alan. @chatmarketing

I remember reading an article on that recently. This is not that article, but does have some places to start: http://www.singlegrain.com/blog/9-companies-doing-linkedin-right/

Hubspot does a good job: http://www.linkedin.com/company/hubspot

    Here’s an article by Hubspot w/examples: http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/31889/13-Brands-Using-LinkedIn-Company-Page-Features-the-Right-Way.aspx

    And here’s a good one…esp. the careers section: http://www.linkedin.com/company/virginia-mason-medical-center

And there’s ours. Kind of a work in progress. Fleshing out the services tab now: http://www.linkedin.com/company/flyte-new-media

  • Brilliant, thanks for that guys! Some great answers.  @annfurnivall LinkedIn works best (from a lead gen perspective anyway!!) for B2B marketers so if you are looking for retail customers Facebook, Pintrest and Twitter would probably work best. However I would encourage you to look beyond lead-gen and think about the added value stuff that will benefit you in the long-term.

For example, I have spoken at two international conferences in the last two years, which were opportunities that came about through my active involvement in Groups. This does not immediately result in new business but goes a long way to establishing yourself as a subject expert (something we are all trying to achieve) plus there has been the invaluable sharing of best practice with industry contacts and the networking aspect too.

@deairby it was more Company Pages than Groups I was looking for but the SME Groups are a fantastic example of how a group should be set up and run. The companies I decided to feature were PepsiCo and Chevron as my examples of best practice in this area.
@rich-brooks thanks a bunch for all these links. Better get busy reading!!

  • @chatmarketing.. thanks  alan….i can  see   some  good points  there for us….  not  crucial   now  but  good if i  could  make the time….our  store is a  boiler  room  of  hard work and  a  big   work load  every day…we  signed up and just put it off   and  really  didnt  explore it….

..  ….  we  do a lot of  b2 b….but  for  us its  finding   other  stores or  salons or  resturants  who   would   buy  our  store  fixtures…so  that  would  be a reason  too…..

i would have to have  someone   here set it up for me again, i got a new  computer and   im  disconnected  from it  now…….then i could  do it maybe….

  • Hey Alan – I’ve searched in vain for creative companies that use LinkedIn well, so I’ll be interested if you do come up with any. The main reason we have found it hard to really build good case studies (insight creative new zealand) is that the templates don’t allow for much flexibility in the presentation. This is no help to you – but leads me to a point that may be worth noting which is that Companies that use LinkedIn well are not necessarily those that present or use their company  pages the best – but more those that actively use LinkedIn’s tools to enhance other marketing properties. Social Media Examiner is still one of my favourite cases in point – the combination of their webcast (and recorded) Summit with their LinkedIn discussion group was one of the most useful community building and information transfer experiences I have had.
