  • Hi all,

I could use some help/direction re building a landing page.  I have plenty of info on what it should contain, but not how to actually build it.  Are any of the free templates worth a try?  Must it be hosted, just like a website?

    Thanks,Beth

  • @bethnovick – I follow Pat Flynn at Smart Passive Income and today he sent out a newsletter about this very subject. I haven’t had the opportunity to watch his videos yet but it might be worth your time – let me know if you watch the vids and what you think of them.

  • @mwwazup  Thanks, Mike.  This link seems to be specific to a landing page for Facebook.  I’d prefer a regular landing page.

  • don’t know if this will help, you do have to sign up for an rss feed @bethnovick This one may be betterI am looking to build a new site and also need this info! :) thanks for asking.

  • @bethnovick

A landing page is the same as a webpage though normally it doesn’t necessarily have more than 1 page. To answer your question yes it needs to be hosted somewhere and there are a lot of free templates out there.

What is the link to the landing page that you need redone?

  • @scottmadden  A colleague and I are renting space to teach classes — she does cycling, I do group fitness — and I just need a simple one-page online presence so people can get class info and we can gather the visitors’ info.

  • @bethnovick If you are a member of your Chamber of Commerce (or another professional association), your membership might include a free mini Web page you could use as your initial online presence. You can also set up a free Web site (one or more pages) at Weebly.com.

  • @debbielynnava  Weebly’s free to set up, but not to activate.  Seems a little sneaky of them.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions.  I just broke down and am building one on Bluehost.

  • @bethnovick

They do need to be hosted just like a website.  A couple things to keep in mind… keep it simple and try to keep everything above the fold.  There was a great post on Search Engine Watch - http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2161567/Killer-Landing-Pages-3-Examples-of-Landing-Pages-that-Convert.

    Hope this helps!

  • @bethnovick The last time I checked, Weebly had a free version, a teacher/educator version, and a pro version you do have to pay for. Sorry for the confusion.

  • I have several landing pages that I created within my WordPress website.

Many people build landing pages that are squeeze pages. This means that there is a signup or purchase at the bottom of the page, and no other links or options. No menu. No sidebar. Nothing to distract from the content on the landing page.
