  • Hey Everyone

I am producing a web series and i am using kickstarter to hopefully fund the first three episodes. I have three specific videos to put on kickstarter.  The first is scripted dialogue, the second is a music video, and the third is a sit down interview. Does anyone know how i could leverage these three videos to launch my campaign? Also if anyone has tips on engaging with people and getting donations? Any kickstarter advice would be helpful.

    Thanks Matt

  • I know folks who are Kickstarter enthusiasts, Matt, but it’s not something I’ve taken time to participate in. I can say that those I know who are into the idea love to find ventures they can support.

For what it’s worth, I would make the reward for investing with me enticing, and I would target my marketing at those who would most be enthused about my topic.

Not everyone is a Kickstarter, but when you get your offer in front of one who is, it will get their attention. BE SURE your description is gripping, high-quality copywriting. That is an absolute necessity.

  • Hey Matt…

Well done in using Kickstarter….now before you do anything…go on the site and read what others are doing…particularly the ones who are doing similar things to you…NOTICE the ones who have reached and exceeded their goal…notice the rewards they offerred. Look at how they set it up…AND what they said and HOW they said it. MAKE NOTES…

THEN…look at the ones that didn’t make their goal…and compare these with the above…

Then start writing what your project is about…in bits at a time…just freewheel…don’t try to make it sequential…that can come later…Create a sincere feeling as you are writing. than figure out what you are goingt to GIVE those that support you…here use the notes you made about the various projects that are on the site…particularly the interesting ones. Have fun…try and get a sense of fun into the project. Don’t be too serious…be yourself…tell a story…make people feel they’d like to know you…

Then when you’ve got your project up…don’t just sit around and watch the funding bar kreep along…or it will never happen…. GET OUT THERE…tweet it …facebook it…promote it…get a story in the local newspaper…call the local radio station.tell all your friends…if it’s got a theme…find people connected with th theme…and tell them…use every means you can to tell the world…

If you know someone with a video camera…or you have one…make a video…where you just explain the project and then stick it up there as well…It doesn’t have to be perfect…just natural…and again…add some fun…maybe get someone else to be with you and just chat about it…and see what happens…

    Hope this helps…cheers…Harry
