Intrusive Online Marketing (5 posts)

  • I mentioned this on a thread elsewhere, but I wish I understood why internet marketers feel it benefits them to post spam links on blogs and social media pages? I know it’s a numbers game. But it’s just as intrusive and annoying as traditional marketing can be.

I hard a great explanation about cold calling that I think applies here as well:

If you call/spam 100 people and get one sale (1% return is pretty good these days), then you’ve made 99 people really angry disrupting their day and wasting their time. If they were interested, they would have been searching. So, now when they are interested, they won’t be looking for you.

    What is your opinion?

  • You only get one opportunity to make a good first impression. Why throw your best chance away?

  • @donpurdum I very much agree with @debbielynnava If you can make a good first impression I would say the next thing to do is to maintain an emotional connection to the client so they can relate to you and feel more comfortable :)

  • I also agree with @debbielynnava. Probably one of the best examples of the emotional tie-in with the consumer is Apple computer. Users are willing to pay a premium just for the bragging rights of being an Apple customer. If your concern is to endear the customer to you, although Apple has made some big mistakes, I think they have a clue. I personally recommend the quality element as the deciding factor in getting the customer to like you.

  • We are intering into an entirely new paradigm of work/commerce. If we are able to leverage the advantage of seeing-early, the nature and direction of change, we have a leg-up on the contest. Our responsibility is to make the best use of the advantages, such- as – it may.
