Instagram? why or why not? (16 posts)

  • “Instagram” has been showing up in many posts and referred to as the new best thing. What’s that all about? Are you using it? Why and why not?

  • Instagram is really fun @deairby for easily shareable photos.  DailyBooth is another one.  Photos are great conversation starters and so I think it’s helped these sites take off.  I don’t use either on a regular basis.  Who else is using either of these for marketing or for fun?

  • Instagram has been made as a “quick and easy” way to get your pictures on Social Media pages.  I think it can be a really cool way to share fun updates with your fans when you are on the road or out-and-about

  • We sprinkle Instagram photos into our feeds with various auto dealerships as a fun and cool way to showcase new cars. Instagram really shines by allowing you to make an average photo into an artistic photo sparking interest and conversation.A picture is worth a thousand words, right?

  • I’ll check it out, thanks all… @leifmartinez @thatsocialdude @andrea-vahl So, when will we be able to share photos on here?

  • @thatsocialdude I agree that it is a fun way to share a different type of updates with fans. However I think if really depends on the business itself. I have a friend with a skate/surf company in Southern California and for him it is great to have images of new products as well as great surf spots in the area. But being in a unique market the instagram functions would not necessarily appeal to our followers so we haven’t used it

  • still trying to figure it out on my phone, thanks for your thoughts  @alexandrabriggs

  • @deairby I only discovered Instagram a couple of weeks ago, but I absolutely love how it integrates (or not, it’s up to you) with twitter, facebook and whatever other accounts you want it to.

Ever since Barack Obama joined Instagram recently, it seems more and more people are joining as well – call it the buzz factor, I guess! According to a recent article, 3 photos per seconds were uploaded from Instagram to facebook as of December 2010. In December 2011, this figure had doubled to 6 photos per second. So it’s a becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Here is an interesting article, found on Mashable in March 2011: How Brands Are Using Instagram to Reach New Audiences

  • thanks for sharing the link, definitely will go there @fredericgonzalo

  • @fredericgonzalo Thank you for sharing that article! Very helpful information! Mashable has such helpful posts!

  • @deairby @alexandrabriggs You are welcome! Glad to return the favor, I have been overwhelmed with all the generosity, helpful hints and advice throughout the 3 clubs already. Let’s keep it going! ;-)

  • @fredericgonzalo Agreed Frederic! I have received such a vast amount of assistance and ideas through the clubs! It’s amazing when you bring together so many “experts” and those with the goals of being an expert! I’m so grateful that SME developed this!

  • @alexandrabriggs Absolutely! The challenge, moving forward, will be to make sense of all the discussions going on, as there is so much, it gets tough to focus… Happy problem, that is.

  • how are you doing with all the information overload? I got my 13 year old daughter to show me the tricks of Instagram and I can see how it can be effectively used, great app, (at least my daughter’s are!) :) happy trails @fredericgonzalo @alexandrabriggs Dig and Delve in 2012!

  • If you’re new to Instagram you might find my nub’ presentation useful.

I LOVE this application, and for a great many reasons. I’ve been having starting to rotate program into various clients marketing mix and its fan base is so passionate. Additionally, app makers that are creating avenues for marketers are not only fascinating but essential in today’s integrated marketing climate.

I’d love to hear your feedback!

  • I always recommend Instagram to my clients as another way of engaging and communicating with fans and customers. The comment threads on the pictures are really nice. Also, I believe Instagram makes a brand extremely “human.” That’s what your customers want – a humanized brand – not a megaphone full of marketing messages pointed their direction. Instagram accomplishes this, in my opinion. It, like other social networks, requires time and attention. It also requires an iPhone ;)
