My background is in corporate communications, but as soon as I started joining LinkedIn groups focused on careers/job seeking and participating in the discussions, teasing my career-related blog posts to drive traffic to my site, etc., I quickly became a “career authority” even though I had never been in that area before. Interestingly, many of the people who previously thought of me as a corporate communicator now call me to be their career coach because they have read my LinkedIn discussions.
I was truly amazed at how quickly people changed their perceptions of me because of my presence on LinkedIn groups.
