How much time (percentage) for Blogging, Facebook, Twitter and other? (9 posts)

  • @richbrooks
This is a side note of the Topic of the Week…how much time should be allocated to blogging, to tweeting, to posting on Facebook….percentage-wise?

    Thanks Rich!

  • It depends on whether you’re just starting out, establishing a strong presence, or in “maintenance mode.”  My son Erik — who I trained to be my “Social Media Manager” — spends around four hours weekly helping my biz maintain a strong social media presence.  More when we publish our twice-monthly newsletter.

    I hope that helps!

  • Oh yes. I agree it depends on where you are at as I normally tell my customers not to take on “everything” at once or it is too overwhelming. But once established and have a bunch of social networking tools setup and working….I was wondering how often to do each. I know it is probably specific to each one’s business and goals, but figured I’d ask if there is a general rule of thumb to follow…
    x amount on blogging
    x amount on FB
    x amount of tweets
monthly, weekly or bi monthly newsletter etc.

Thank you Johnathan for sharing!! :D
Glad Erik can help you out too :D

  • @bernsteincrisis  @blogsbyheather  I  agree  it  depends.
Work on each social media sites one at a time then asses which among those social networks works well. If you think Facebook works more than the others try add more time on it.
I think Its best to plan ahead and schedule at least 15-30 minutes to monitor them. I try to blog at least once a week then monitor my social networks everyday.

Sorry, didn’t see this post. I’ve got a hyphen in my handle: @rich-brooks

I agree with everyone here: it depends. What’s important is measuring things to see what is giving you the best ROI so that next week, next month and next year you’ll have a better sense of where you should allocate your time, and to what percentage.

  • My goal is to blog twice a week, and visit FB, LI, Twitter, Google+, and a couple of other sites daily to interact with fans/connections/followers, retweet relevant posts, answer LI questions, etc.

I’m still getting my business off the ground, so I spend several hours a day on SM and research. When I have a full client roster, I intend to spend at least one hour a day on SM.

Thank you all for your feedback :D
In this upcoming year I am planning on working the FB and Twitter accounts much more as well as growing a presences on YouTube. So I will just do some trial and error and see where it goes.

    Thank you! :D

  • I thought I saw some great templates and timetables on this site. Was sure I’d send the link to review but can’t find them so if anyone comes across them please let me know as I would value some guidance on this topic.

    Thank you

I am beginning to think that time is an illusion…….:)
