how much does the offline calendar effect your online presence? (8 posts)

  • There are “big events” in the offline world such as the Super Bowl or World Series. Do you piggy back on the excitement of these using them for promotional themes? Do you follow a seasonal calendar with your business focus? Valentines Day has been discussed: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/small-business/forum/topic/valentine-day-promotion/

(If you want to cheer for your Super Bowl Team, you can add a footnote! It is not topic quality.)

  • Hi Dea,

Thanks so much for connecting with me!  All the guys here are taking off early  and (I don’t blame them), however, my clients come first.

I systematically plan of these hiccups in the editorial calendar. Valentines is a big event what are you doing with your content to promote your Valentines offer?

Your companies organization  has to have.

    • Goals set
    • Strategies to achieve the goals
    • Tactics make sure those strategies work and are quantifiable.

  • Glad to have you on board, Scout! Great advice on the organization of a company. Care to share the answers you have to those for examples?

Great time to ask this question.

One of my partners is a big NY Giants fan, so this past week on our training calls, they had a “Super Bowl” twist to them (being a Dallas Cowboys fan myself, I wasn’t too enthused :-) , but there’s always next year..)

We promoted the call’s theme in our newsletters and email blasts, and we had one of the larger turnouts for the call ever.

I think if its done right, tagging along with a “calendar” event can be a smart move.

    Good topic!
Often I try and work events into promotions.

Probably most often in Facebook updates.
Although Valentines is a good idea, too.
Tomorrow I’ll be mostly focused on the game, personally.
Really, it’s better if your customers are focused on the event.
I don’t run specials, however, like discounts.
Obviously, w/team sports you need to be careful.
Tom Brady’s popular here, but not in NY.
So, do you know who I’m rooting for?
    !

  • @deairby – we talk about how you can use those events to help your business, but since we are not retail, we don’t discount.

@rich-brooks – LOVE it!!! Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!

  • too clever, Rich! (IMHO, I think you are going to be happy on Sunday night.) @rich-brooks

  • @rich-brooks
