How does your business celebrate its anniversary? (10 posts)

  • How does your business celebrate anniversaries or other milestones? Contests, giveaways, a company picnic, charitable giving, community service, a big thank you to customers, customer discounts, special promotions, giving employees the day off?

  • @debbielynnava

Hmmm…that’s a great question. We’re turning 15 this year and I haven’t given it a lot of thought.

For our 10th anniversary we had a party in our offices and invited friends, customers and vendors. It was small, but we had it catered b/c at a party when we turned 7 I spent the whole next day cleaning up the office.

  • Being a Lifestyle Business just leaves me to go out for a meal with a friend, which I do most years and talk about the best and the worst contracts.

Split between publishing articles, books and e-books on my own account and for others Ghost Writing, or contracting and doing Business Process Analysis and Business and Technical documentation (e.g. API for Apps, CE Mark Product Technical Files, Policies & Procedures, Study Guides and Courses).

  • Ok, no way this would fly in the US lol but last year we had “ethnic” day where everyone dressed up in their ceremonial ethnic garb and brought some regional food. I wish I was there, have my talis with me for this years.
For individual employee one year anniversaries they get an iPod.

  • Congratulations @rich-brooks on 15 years in business! A catered party for those who have supported you sounds wonderful. So does the part about no clean up.

@ericsutherland Sharing your success with a friend is a great way to celebrate your business.

You are probably right about a US ethnic day @robpeck unless you find yourself working on behalf of diverse cultures. Receiving an iPod and sharing food are both fun and memorable.

  • @debbielynnava I’ll let you know next year!

  • @joanmuschampfagnani I’ll look forward to it!

  • When we turned 20 we decided to offer 20% everything in the store with the exception of gift cards and postage stamps. We’ve repeated this every year (on or close to our anniversary date) since then using the percentage that corresponds to our anniversary. This has been a nice one-day boost to August which is usually very slow.

As a card and gift business this has been mostly successful although it has been slower the past couple of years. That’s possibly due to the fact that our schools start in early August and our anniversary is the 11th. This will be our 25th year so we’ll see what kind of response 25% off gets.

  • @sara Congratulations on 25 years in business and a fantastic way to say thank you to all your customers.
