1 year, 3 months ago: Warren, I’ll bet that the majority of social media “earners” are independent consultants. They may do only social media, but more likely have added social media to their list of services. For example, I provide marketing and SEO copywriting, and only recently added social media marketing (after studying it intensely). I added it because my clients are asking me for it. A year ago they were not, and now they are, so it’s a great add-on to my services.
The earnings vary, but the main part of what I provide is writing blogs and creating video (in partnership with a graphic designer)- which you were probably not thinking of when you ask about social media.
I’m sure the trend will continue as more and more companies need social media help, and may not want to hire a full time person. So they will outsource to people who provide marketing and writing services. The rates will vary according to what these freelancers charge for other services.
