  • All of us know that Email Marketing is one of the most profitable source of income for blogs and online businesses.
Unlikely, Email Marketing is very hard if you don’t have the right information nor adopt the right strategies.

What stragies do you use in Email Marketing?

Where do you think you can take the best information in Email Marketing?

I found pretty useful SteveScottSite and Copyblogger for Email Marketing tips.

  • @maurodand we get most of our   email connections  in  face to face   situations, thru  sign ups at our store   and  drawings,,,,  some  from our website and  blog..

our  database contains about  3500 people….we use it once a month and also about  6  more times a year   for    our main events…..  we use  constant  contact  …

. LOVE IT… compared  to  our  snail mail  campaigns  we still do as well….  with   first  class postage….uggg

  • @maurodand

There’s definitely a lot of great resources out there. I happen to be listening to a Pat Flynn podcast in the car right now about building your email list.

I’ve found that offering a quality ebook or article works wonders for my business and many other service businesses.

Alternatives include special discounts in the online store or entry to a raffle.

Of course, you need to continually create quality content that addresses your ideal customers’ biggest problems or they’ll unsubscribe just as quick.

  • @rich-brooks @maurodand great resources shared here about email list building. I am a huge fan of copyblogger.com checking out steve scott and pat flynn.  I just wanted to add another one socialtriggers.com email list building 101.

  • Thanks to all for the answers and for sharing these interesting information.

@annfurnivall Great! You are doing pretty well.
I think that offline promotion could be even better than online one (at least at beginning stage) but I live in Italy while I have a site in English (unlikely many people here couldn’t follow my blog due to the language).

@rich-brooks I agree with you: a lead magnet is a good start.
But I think in these days it could be not enough.
By the way, yes, Pat is great :)

@geoffrey-gordon It’s right! I forgot Derek at Social Trigger…it’s one of the best in my opinion (on many topics, not only on Email Marketing).

  • @maurodand @annfurnivall @rich-brooks @geoffrey-gordon- I personally like video email the best, I can send out a custom video in regards to my products and services by creating a code that will fit on my website or I can create a series of video email’s like a campaign that people would sign up directly within my website or a video email I send out to my current customers.. The great thing about this is that most people when they get a video email they will watch it as long as i keep it under 5 min and it will automatically forward them to my website to get more information about the video they just watched after it plays. I have never and will never buy a list to build my business, that is just a wrong way of doing this. I always ask permision if I can send, even if I am face to face.

  • @maurodand I think one of the best strategies for email marketing is to actually send a newsletter or blast. Most people know they should send an email blast, but don’t do it for many reasons. My advice is Just Do It!

  • @amyhallbiz I agree with you, Amy.  We send an e-newsletter every month and email blasts through our local chambers of commerce and sometimes through our own list.  We usually get a pretty good response and don’t get many unsubscribes.  I try to keep the content focused on what the customers want.

  • @dianebianchi Without asking your secrets…… would you share some ideas as to how you actually determine what the customers want….  Thanks

  • @dave-mackay I determine this by what has engaged customers in past email campaigns.  I use Mailchimp and check the analytics regularly to see what is working the best.  I also use analytics from my Facebook page as to what gets the most interaction and use that type of content in my newsletters.

  • There are some really great tips and resources here. Although I use Aweber, I have a client who uses Constant Contact. They have an awesome resource center and knowledge base. They offer online training in both email marketing and social media marketing which I found to be a valuable learning resource. I know having a freebie is an important accelerator to building your email list, but I have yet to come up with that yet.

  • @dianebianchi ok, now I have an idea….. I do not have a mail campaign as yet….. I have to gather some idea as to what is important before I start one. @dawnchitwoodrivers hehe I had no clue as to how you could know the customers, the dim bulb is becoming  less dim….

    Thanks to you both

  • You’re welcome, @dave-mackay

  • @dave-mackay Think about the last five questions you were asked about your service/product… Viola now you know what your customers are interested in!

  • This is a powerful field if utilized properly. First off I don’t utilize list from any third party. I generate my own list. This way you can factor in all of the variables that  will achieve your desired results.

When you do start, you must make sure that your information is concise and to the point in your initial mailing. If you don’t follow up with a auto-responder over a given time span, your initial efforts could be in vain.

  • @klg007 Good point with the auto responders. A great ebook or video series offered to entice people to sign up for your mailing list is key. Then a series of auto responders with follow up questions or tips or educational moments is key to getting your business in front of people that want more information about your business.
