I have been reading a lot of articles about PInterest and several of them have mentioned running a contest to acquire followers.  One I recently read (link: http://www.linkedin.com/news?viewArticle=&articleID=5580596831491981353&gid=68961&type=member&item=98071008&articleURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.douglaslim.org%2Fpinterest-101%2F&urlhash=MwPZ&goback=.gde_68961_member_98071008) says “Run a contest on Pinterest and invite people to pin images that inspire or motivate them. Then judge the best pin and offer a prize.”  What I don’t understand is if it means people pin images on their own boards or yours, and if its theirs, how do you know what they’ve pinned, and if its yours, how can they do that without a login?  Am I not getting something here?  I’m just not sure how this would work and would appreciate if someone understands how this works and can explain it.  It seems like a great idea.

I did a contest Monday called Pin It to Win It! I made an image that was linked to my page with a promotion on it. Anyone who repinned it and commented was eligible to win. On Wednesday I chose a winner at random. It was really successful. The traffic on my page was amazing for the 2 days I held the contest.

I’ve started a contest today which is running via my facebook group where we are branding and promoting our business using the “How to”. You are free to do videos, upload picture instructions or blog instructions and this will be shared and pinned around my the group members. Anybody interested in taking part, pls inbox me.
