How are yall handling solicitations here? It’s getting kind of icky lately! (4 posts)

  • I’m getting the nicest solicitations here lately, but it’s starting to feel icky again. I know Mike Stelzner has set a high standard — no solicitations — but people are ignoring this. One going so far as to say he’s already been chastized by Rich for soliciting, but still sending me a solicitation…

This boggles my mind! Yes, friends, this crosses the line. Please stop asking me to check out your affiliate site. I have affiliate sites I’d love for YOU to check out, but that is not allowed here. Please stop private messaging people hoping they don’t care if you break the rules. Yes, you’re a nice person… but please don’t ask me to condone your breaking the rules!

Anyone else fed up with all the solicitations lately?

  • @atlantarobin  Have not had this problem Robin, but I am glad you posted the topic.  It is wrong that you are put in such a bad position.  I would think “rules are rules” and should not be broken, no matter how “clever” you are in trying to get around them.  Looking forward to hearing what others have to say!

  • @atlantarobin I’ve only had a few *knocks on wood* so I can just ignore them. They sometimes send LinkedIn requests that I dutifully ignore. If you’re going to pitch me here, why should I give you access to super-spam me there? It’s about relationships people!

  • @atlantarobin and everyone else:

Solicitations are not allowed here, but networking is.

Check out the Club Rules for more details if you’re not sure.

If you feel that a post is too spammy you can Flag it by clicking on the Flag button at the top of each post.

If you want to draw my attention to it, you can private message me w/a link to the thread.

If you’re getting repeated private messages from someone and you feel it’s all promotional, you can unfriend them and then they can’t send any more emails to you. You can also let me know about that as well and I’ll have a private chat.

If, however, you’re having a conversation with someone through PMs about business, it’s quite possible that what he or she offers will come up. You can politely decline and let them know you’re not interested.

Now that we all know how it works, let’s get on with sharing great content, helping each other out, and building our small businesses.

Not to put too fine a point on this, but unless you need to talk to me directly about this, I consider this conversation closed.
