Have You Checked Out Twylah? (11 posts)

  • Twylah is a new site that pulls in your Twitter feed to create a branded landing page of sorts.

I’m trying to figure out the value of it. Would you send someone to it? Is it better for brands or “personalities” than for people?

It says it “delivers your story and captivates your audience with a stunning visual experience.” I guess that depends on how many twitpics you take. ;)

They’re in beta right now, but seem to be letting people in w/in a day or so.

  • very interesting, will “eventually” check this out, put on top of the pile of to-do’s :) @rich-brooks

twylah looks interesting but not sure if I want to do anything with it at this point. I will wait and see what you and others input might be.

  • Hi @rich-brooks – first I have heard of it and looks interesting. I also tried out similar things like vidcaster which pulls in youtube videos and then paperli which pulls in tweets you specifiy and now google+ as well however it has adverts and is more of a newspaper type of thing. However found it was not generating much traffic or views and was extra work as well to sort for example of paperli as to what shows – not sure if you have to do the same on Twylah – and with so much going on I just didnt have the time. What would be great though is a site like that whch pulls in your own tweets, facebook posts, pinterest, google+ etc into one nice little site that you can brand as your own that you can showcase as your social site. Anyone know of one?

  • I don’t think these types of sites work unless you’re following an event or a court case or something similar. I was following the James Ray court case and it was very nice to get the paper.li at the end of the day to catch up on all opinions about the case.

  • @rich-brooks Interesting, but your right not sure of the value. For your information I did try to RT  one of your posts from there and it returned a Twylah is down prompt.

  • @ptwylie @mambamedia
I did attempt to use it and continued to say it was busy. Never did get anywhere. Sigh, will check it out another time.

I’m using paper.li to build awareness of an upcoming conference I’m putting on because of how it pulls in updates of people I’m following (from that account) which then often gets them to retweet me to their audience.

I created a blog post and video showing how I did it: http://www.flyteblog.com/flyte/2012/02/how-to-get-more-twitter-followers-using-paper-li.html

Like Paper.li, there’s not much more to do after you’ve set up Twylah. In fact, I wish there was a little more control you could have…I’d probably de-emphasize some topics and bring others up.

  • Hi @rich-brooks sorry for the late reply and thanks for the info – great I do like the idea to use it in a more targeted approach – i had it pulling in too many contacts i think and was getting a lot of mixed up posts and different languages which may not have appealed to all our audience. Also like the fact of the rementions means they are likely to retweet it. Thanks for the tips and blog! May go try again!

  • Here is my Twylah page, I have had no trouble with it. it.http://www.twylah.com/tndave38

  • I’m not opposed to Twylah, but it definitely takes the right account to make it effective.

When @rich-Brooks mentioned he’s using it for a conference, I said “damn, why didn’t I think of that?”

To me, it doesn’t seem like a good B2C tool, but definitely B2B.
