Has anyone used the Pay with a Tweet app? (6 posts)

  • Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has used the Pay with a Tweet application, and if yes for what and what type of results did they get?

I’m thinking to use it for some of the white papers we offer on our website and I wanted to do some bench-marking beforehand.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Ana

I haven’t. I was looking at a product called Tweet To Unlock (there are several of them) that James Wedmore mentioned to me when I interviewed him last week.

Is it similar? You’re not really collecting $$$ with this, rather people are “paying” for your content by tweeting it out?

If so, here’s how James told me he did it and I think it’s only positive (as the pay to tweet may come off as a bit self-serving):

He gives away something for free (in this case 5 royalty free songs that he bought the master rights to) and on the landing page he has an additional offer: 5 additional songs if you “tweet to unlock.”

This way, you’re giving something (valuable) away for free, PLUS you’re giving them the opportunity to get even more.

    Good luck!

  • Personally, I use a workaround for items that use this because I don’t want to share something before I’ve had the chance to read it. That would jeopardize my credibility. I set it to share on Facebook, set it to “Me Only” in the privacy and that way I don’t have to put myself on the line for something that may not be worth sharing.

  • Hi  @ana-udrea

I’ve not used that and in fact have not entered the realm of tweet for goods/products/services at all. I know lots of folks do this though.

    OH!pinion follows:

It may be good business (undoubtedly is) but embracing this is not and has not been in action plans here.

I understand the viral technique.  It’s just not something I embrace wholeheartedly at this juncture. It is a trade off – if I believed in the product etc. then yeah, probably, or maybe I’d tweet.

Hi @h4baine — I agree with you – I want to know what the ‘body’ of a work is before I recommend it to anyone.

  • Hi all,

Thank you very much for your answers, they gave me a perspective I didn’t have on the matter. So here’s why it pays to ask for advice J

I was thinking to use Tweet to Download gimmick with people that have already downloaded one of our white papers (the idea was to avoid them filling in another form to get another resource. Once is enough to capture their details and why should they make the same effort twice?).

The ”Tweet to Unlock” option sounds really smart. I’ll look into it tomorrow. I might test the two concurrently and then compare the results.

Any feedback/ ideas of improvements welcome.

Again, thanks for taking the time to answer my enquiry.

  • @ana-udrea Id love to hear what your results are on this. I love market research that someone else does for me!
