Google Penalizes Web Pages With Top Heavy Ads (7 posts)

  • Google  has a new algorithm change that looks at your page layout and if the ads above the fold are excessive, your site can be penalized and downgraded in the search results.
Are you aware of the new changes? Have you made any changes to your business site to Panda-erize your sites content?
Google released a special tool  browsersize.googlelabs.com to help you visualize if your site may or was impacted by this.

  • @ptwylie THANKS!!

  • @devanianjali You betcha! This year is going to be really a game changer ha ha

  • @ptwylie — Right you are, Paul! Looks like we’re all going to be on the lookout, because it’s no longer SEO as we knew it. Design, appearance, navigation, etc, etc are all vital. I know a few online marketers that got hit big time in the first wave of the Panda-related changes — not funny at all.

Somehow, I feel these Google updates  will continue to work advantageously for companies that put quality content and aesthetics well ahead of gimmicks.  I hope most of us rank among the former and not the latter group.

On a personal level, I’m just now starting a revamp of my website as part of my plan to transition to Joomla (for my current site and prospective ones).  I will be taking the Panda changes into consideration.

  • @rachelagheyisi I am pleased that you are one of ones taking a pro-active stance. So many established businesses are not taking this seriously resting on their laurels. The search engines only want to provide to their users the most relevant data they have for the search query.

With recent tools, platforms has made this gravitational pull…it was inevitable. As content providers we need to embrace this change and advise our clients/ agencies best practices to stay on top.
Here is a couple of articles that appeared this week that I think are particularly noteworthy. And as such worthy of a new networking club here G+.
I have maintained all along if you have a business you need to be on G+.

  • @ptwylie

Would you mind posting a link to the article about the ads? Not that I run them on any of my sites, but I wouldn’t mind reading more into it.

  • @rich-brooks Sorry Rich I should have cited the source :( The author is Barry Schwartz and posted @seroundtablehttp://www.seroundtable.com/google-page-layout-penalty-14612.html
