Google changes *IMPORTANT for anyone with a website!!! (3 posts)

    If you’re not, I got a newsletter from SiteProNews stating that any merchant using Google Shopping will HAVE to pay PER keyword used!!!     Even though this change is “only” happening with Google Shopping merchants, it will still effect your website rankings.  Google will want to priorities people using their system   — (which is completely understandable) — BUT it will effect you negitivly if you sell products on your website only and are not using the shopping system (it’s like their version of eBay and Amazon). 


    Another thing to keep in mind is that any business (eps. small ones) will have trouble selling their products on the shopping system if they don’t have the resources to pay for ever keyword.  


    I would like everyones thoughts on whether they think this is a good change and how you think this’ll effect the future of SEO and online marketing in general.

    Anything paid will never effect organic rankings.  The new paid inclusion is similar to AdWords (and ads are actually set up through the AdWords), displaying info in the same area ads are currently displayed.  

    It has some positive and negative aspects but I think overall it will help return more relevant results to the searcher.  There are no guarantees of placement.  Your listing shows depending upon relevance of the search term and bid price.
    One note I wanted to make about what you said above…You don’t pay per keyword.  You bid on what you would pay if you listing was to show up in results and get clicked.  
    I don’t think this will have any effect on the future of SEO.  It’s more about ensuring your product listing and information is as accurate and relevant as possible which is what you should be doing already.
