Google analytics….help#$%^#@$%^&*(??????? (8 posts)

  • I have a google account and set it up for a website I built for our church. Now I am trying to get my business site going and need google analytics for it but after reading the instructions about how to add an account over and over…it just isn’t doing what it says it should do. I can’t add another account. Anyone know how to do this?(maybe I should go to bed and try tomorrow???)thanks,Dea:) :) ;)

    Such language!!

OK, so are you the administrator on the first account? Because that’s critical. If you’re not, you’ll need to create a new account.

If that’s not the problem, give me some more info about what’s not working and I’ll see if I can’t walk you through it.

  • sorry about the language !@$#%^%$#so, I think I am the admin cuz I created the site and manage it, there’s no one else who could/would be, right? @rich-brooks

One surefire way of finding out is whether you have the ability to add new users to your account. If not, you’re not the admin.

You can have complete control of your site, but NOT be the admin of your Google Anaytics.

  • new users or new accounts? how do you become the admin? (hoping this discussion will be helpful to others) @rich-brooks

  • @deairby

If you don’t have the ability to add new users, it means you have a user level account, and you have limited control over your own account.

Many developers (unfortunately) set up Google Analytics under their own gmail account then give user-level access to customers.

The best way to do it is to grab your customers’ gmail, set up the account under them, then add yourself as an admin.

  • well, that’s clear as mud…(no, I think I understand) the “customer” is our new  church that I made the site for (I only know enough to be dangerous) So, I need to get my pastor-husband’s email and set up the account under him and make me the admin? So how then do I use the account for my site? @rich-brooks

I think we need to do this in real time. You’ve got my email (and thus my phone.)

    Holler!
