Get More Engagement on Instagram (6 posts)

I use Instagram almost entirely for personal enjoyment, although I have used images I’ve taken for blog posts and other material. (See the last resource for free and cheap stock photo sites for your blog.)

However, I know some people and brands use it to build an audience.

My 10 year old is on it now, so I follow all her followers to make sure they’re friends, and not creeps.

One girl who’s a family friend gets over 100 likes on each pic she posts! Argh! A good “engagement” for me is 10 likes.

So I ran into her the other day and asked her what she does. She gave me one really good tip:

Take a screen capture of someone else’s feed and upload that as a new Instagram pic, then tell everyone to follow that person.

This type of selfless promotion gets people to bend over backwards to like and comment on her pics.

Great tip I thought, so I’m sharing it here.

Does anyone else use Instagram for marketing or networking, and do you have any tips?

  • i thougtht  about it and   talked  to   several people……my  conclusion i  is  that its  huge with  20 somethings and  younger  and  not very   big  with my  target market… [30 and up]

seems like they just look at pictures  and pass them around…..  even less talk than pinterest…

is anyone out there using it?  love to hear…

  • I downloaded the app to my iPhone but have never used it.  I don’t really see how it would help me as a business consultant.  Have any other consultants out there used it?

  • I use Instagram and must admit the majority of people who are following me/I’m following are business contacts/colleagues from other social networks pulled together rather than friends.

I’m finding it useful in that it’s deepening my relationships with existing contacts as a lot of the pictures taken are more personal so it’s a great way to get to know people on a more personal basis.

  • I use instagram too, and even when I have tons of pictures, and work quite hard in all of them, I see other accounts have tons of followers and likes and they don’t even have original content.
I doesn’t matter how hard I try, I still have a miserable amount of followers… I guess I don’t understand how instagram work anymore. Maybe if I just post cute pictures taken from Google I would have tons of likes…

  • Hiya Folks.

I’m not using this yet but have family members who do, but for personal items. I’ve not delved into how it would help my businesses either.

I work from home and don’t go out much except for occasional business meetings. If I could find the benefit then, yeah, I’d give it a whirl.  Maybe I will try it out when I have some time to take a new look. Time=I don’t have any! Sheesh.
