FYI… Facebook is starting to take down Profiles that are business oriented (6 posts)

  • FYI… Facebook is starting to take down Profiles that are business oriented, when this happens you lose all access to your page and all of your friends and customers who friended you and there is no way to recover the lost information, if you already use a profile for your business I suggest you start a business page (Fan Page) and invite all of your friends from your business profile to like your new fan page and if you are considering starting a profile page for your business DON’T it will be a big mistake!

  • I also understand that fan pages will be given the timeline very soon.  It seems natural that  would want to use all that extra space (on our personal page) to promote our business.

  • @roguecitrus That is the rumor but you never know with FaceBook,

  • @rlmosca

I’d like to share this w/clients and friends. Do you have an example, or did you see something from a news source?

  • @rich-brooks I have included a quote from Facebook and three resources you can read..

Here is a quote directly from the Facebook TOS… *”Facebook profiles are meant to represent a single individual. Organizations of any type are not permitted to maintain an account under the name of their organization. We have created Facebook Pages to allow organizations to have a presence on Facebook. These Pages are distinct presences, separate from user profiles, and optimized for an organization’s needs to communicate, distribute information/content, engage their fans, and capture new audiences virally through their fan’s recommendations to their friends. If you create a profile for your business, your account may be disabled for violating our Terms of Use. If you have questions about how to best leverage your Facebook Page, please check out our Insider’s Guide or FAQ.” -Facebook

I had an acquaintance who has been using a profile page for years and it was shutdown on him.

    Hope this helps,

  • @rlmoscaIs is there a way to take over or have a Facebook fan page or have it taken down due to a partnership dissolution?
