http://untweeps.com – you can unfollow anyone who doesn’t tweet often. I think you can use it 4 times a month for free after that it costs a minimal amount. I added it as a recurring task on my calendar so it pops up and I don’t have to think about it.

http://fakers.statuspeople.com/ – lets you know if you have fake followers and then gives you a score. I just did this once so far and my score was high, 98, with 0 fake followers. I’m not sure I believe this 100%, I don’t know if the high score reward was so I would tweet and brag about it – thus getting my followers to try it themselves. But it is free…

I’d be curious if anyone else tries and gets a high score.

  • @pchiappa I checked out untweeps – I like it!  I also tried StatusPeople and got a score of 96%, with 1% face and 3% inactive.  I do screen who I follow, so maybe this is accurate.  Thanks for sharing these tools.

  • Glad you like it Diane! Yup, I really like untweeps – why continue to follow someone who doesn’t tweet regularly? My personality is such that I’m always cleaning up, pruning, tidying…so untweeps is my-kind-of-tool.

  • @pchiappa I know what you mean! :)

  • Hello Pat @pchiappa

Untweeps is great – been on that tonight tidying up my main twitter account. So many folks have noty tweeted in long enough that I don’t need to follow them.  I loved this!

I like a clean list. I used to love an app called formulists that did not just this, but about 1,000 other things, but unfortunately they shuttered it.

I sometimes wonder if I have time to prune my list as often as I’d like. However, if Twitter starts looking at engagement as a measurement, having a smaller, more engaged list might make sense.

  • BTW, I got 0% fake accounts (impossible, really) and 91% active (I’ve been on Twitter for a long while, so many people have come and gone.)

  • Yes, @rich-brooks, engagement is the key. :)
