Favorite Social Media Resource? (8 posts)

  • Excluding anything from Social Media Examiner and your own, amazing content, what social media resources do you find critical to your success?

It could be a blog, a podcast, a YouTube channel, or even a book.

I’m a big fan of Derek Halpern’s Social Triggers. Although it doesn’t come out as often as I’d like, the content is always good.

  • @rich-brooks I like Social Media Today, PR Daily (useful & funny stuff!), Tom Fishburne/Marketoonist and SteamFeed.

For books, The Social Customer by Adam Metz and Success Secrets of Social Media Marketing Superstars by Mitch Meyerson. Unfortunately I have a stack of books and some e ones that I still need to peruse!

  • Hi @rich-brooks and  @kc_kreative —

Very early on I had a friend online (Scott Allen) who had a group on the Ryze network called “The Virtual Handshake.”  After some years chatting with him there he co-authored “The Virtual Handshake, Opening Doors and Closing Deals Online” with the premise of years of experience running his own networks on the web. I think the copyright is 2005 however, many of the newer books printed say the same things that these guys did back then. The Ryze network is still there but has a new name.

I also have a great stack of books on SM but I often go back to Scott and Davids edition to reiterate some of their really timeless points.

I tend to lean towards programmers (and hackers) blogs as these guys always have an inside track on much of what is happening or is going to happen soon. I’ve never been disappointed.  Actually in just the past few days I posted a very old article that addressed G+ and how it would effect us all – every single thing the programmer stated has come to pass.

More Online – WOW – I read everything so it’s hard to pick just a few places but I really like to read Scott Monty “The Social Media Marketing Blog” (he does not blog often) and I did quite a bit of study for non-profits using Twitter (several books on this too).

The landscape online changes so quickly it’s hard to say or pick just a few.  If I went to my Twitter steam for the past week though I bet I could name dozens!

These two guys give me more than just SM — David Teten and Scott Allen and I do follow them everywhere (but not in a stalking way).

  • Copyblogger.com is an excellent blog for teaching people how to blog and market your services online. Plus the copy is just excellent … you can really learn a lot from their sales and marketing messaging.

  • Squidoo and Google+ Community. These are two of my favorite resource for getting social media traffic, For your information, this is the community I have created for:Custom Software, Web & Application Development

  • HI @kaushalam

I love Squidoo and was hot and heavy on that some years back.  It never seemed to catch on like some other places have.  BUT I loved it. :D

    Just a side note…
