Event Marketing (4 posts)

  • Hello Folks.

Almost lunch time here (CST) but before I go I’d like to draw your attention to a subject that has been touched on in a few threads but not really discussed.

Social Media is not just virtual so if you are networking (in the real world, and we all should!) take a look at this guide and see if there are any takeaways of which you are not already aware.

    Guide to Event Marketing

How many events do you attend in a year, whether physical or virtual?

How much attention do you pay to the ads that are included at any event?

Rich asked about events a week or so ago but with the guide in hand, did you learn anything new?

PS - OH! I am attending the Social Media Content Success Summit after all. Perhaps I’ll see how they market particular businesses/services other than SME! I wonder if they do? Have you planned to attend this event?

  • @supereb

I just got wrapped up #NMX and I’m looking forward to SME’s SMMW in April.

For me, I don’t pay a lot of attention to the sponsors if they’re just buying ad space. They need to do something extra or interesting to get my attention.

I mean, isn’t this why we do social media? So we can move from the advertising column into the content column?

That being said, I couldn’t help that Guinness Black was a sponsor of NMX because it was free at all the official event parties.

I also noticed Ford was a sponsor because there was a Ford vehicle in the hallway and Scott Monty spoke.

Sponsors need to step up and out of the ad box if they want to get noticed.

  • HI @rich-brooks

Scott Monty? Really?  Something like that might get me on a commercial flight next time!  Free Guinness Black – another great incentive. Heh.

Sorry this is not adding any value – just excitement! You will have to give us more details later – a great blog post of how you spent your time would do just fine.

  • @rich-brooks Yes, Rich, please do give us an update.
