Does anyone watch videos on Pintrest? (12 posts)

  • Seems like the video feature never gets repinned. I think this is not the place for videos. What are your thoughts? Have you gotten good results from pinning videos?

  • I didn’t even know that you could watch video on Pinterest????  @jasonwiser

  • I put my videos, I have the same in two versions, with English music (the old classic Coca Cola song of the 75′s), and other with a song in Spanish, and just the English version was repinned. If you already have the videos, then use them, but don’t make extra work to do something special for your Pinterest account, probably they are still not very popular.

  • no, but im a lot  better with  reading  than  watching a video….im  on opinterest a lot and havent   noticed  hardly  any in  my  areas……

  • @jasonwiser

In your opinion, is that the most important metric, the repin? Or is it traffic? Or something else?

I’m not being facetious, I am just trying to understand how you use it for your business.

  • you  dont  really know about  traffic….  if  someone looks and  does nothing  you dont know….as  far as i understand….pinreach  says  they count  who pins you  way more than  how many you pin…..  when they rate  you….

@rich-brooks im also  trying to   figure out the  best ways  to use this  platform…

my customers  aae   loving it and   going  crazy on pinterest,  thats   general  but a big  reason  for me…and   so many   connect with me on there….i have a  big  following  but not  quite sure what to do with it…

  • Actually @rich-brooks , I refuse to use Videos on Pintrest. I think what makes Pintrest so unique is the “Sears Catalog” look. If I want Videos I go to youtube, where they belong. I think videos will cheapen Pintrest and it is a poor choice to allow them.
So my question was more about what others think about them? and wanting to know if any of you watch them, re-pin them, or engage with them? I think Pintrest will soon see that the trade off of allowing them and the amount of interaction does not warrant having them clutter up the site.
Repin is very important, but comments and likes drive it to the front page. And front page means people see the pin and click the link to your site. Repins work only if they preserve your URL information, either watermarked in the pic, or on the description.  Quick tip, kind of like LinkedIn and Youtube (even more than the other Networks), the more people you are connected with the more walls you will appear on, the better chance you have of being discovered and having someone like your pin and find your link. Because hey, to a marketer, its all about getting people to my clients website.
Be sure to monitor your Google analytic’s, and watch which pins are driving traffic. @annfurnivall

  • @jasonwiser i feel the same way on the videos…and also on lots of  the  information  pins….

… i aim  for  spreading   thru   my  followers , kindred  spirits, and  reaching  their  followers,  instead of aiming  for  the  front page….when i look at the front page it seems  not  quite my   target  audience…. more  younger and  single, with  tons of   clothes and make up….  im  more about  homes and gardens and   family people..

.with millions on there already i  think hitting   the f ront page would  be  pretty tough….

have  you looked at pinreach?  its  pretty  neat..i get   enough info there for now…

btw…love your  attitude on accepting  friends…if i  sold online i would  probably   be  that way too…. im  sending a  favorite  church  worker your way….

  • @annfurnivall Thanks Ann, this is such a pleasant way to start my day! Particularly in light of a previous discussion where we were dramatically polarized. I have a lot of respect for you Ann and wish you all the best! Blessings…

  • ditto  jason….we are probably  kind of polarized on some  topics….. lol…

i think  you have a good niche  and   hope  you do   great….my dil  does   lots of media  work  for her church  and  the elders had little idea  about  the  world of  social media and   connecting  by  computer…which  their  young   members  were  all ready  for…….so hopefully    you are filling a  big   need out there…

    @jasonwiser

  • @annfurnivall thanks Ann

  • @jasonwiser Pinterest should be viewed as a unique community and opportunity to share an assortment of visual content. Whether videos are part of that mix and whether videos will be accepted on the platform will ultimately be determined by the individual host community. As a video host destination, Pinterest isn’t architected to compete against video networks such as YouTube. But I can see how videos could fit into the overall theme of sharing a Brand’s visual content via Pinterest as another outlet and opportunity to reach a different set of unique community members.
In the end, it’s about stimulating engagement. Time will tell if video can be an engagement mechanism on Pinterest.
