Do You Have An Action Plan for 2012? (8 posts)

  • With 2012 just around the corner, I am working with many of my clients to define, design and develop a plan of action to meet (and exceed) their goals.  Here are 5 Key elements to keep in mind as you create your annual plan to up-level your business in 2012:

    • Clarity of vision
    • Consistency in your processes and systems
    • Commitment to do what it will take to create the biz you envision
    • Courage to stretch yourself and go beyond your comfort zone
    • Confidence you have everything you need to succeed!
I believe that “If you can envision it, you can create it!”

What is your process for charting your course for the coming year?

Great question. I recently wrote a post called 6 Ways to Improve Your Digital Marketing in 2012, but I don’t know that it has your 5 C’s integrated into it.

I know that I need to walk away from my regular desk, write down my goals, and then develop an action plan to get there.

I want to be putting on monthly seminars here in Maine, and then presenting the same content in webinars for everyone who’s “from away.” :)

I want to get more personal speaking engagements.

I want to write a book.

I want to get my company to a point where it’s self-sustaining.

It’s just a matter of walking away from the busy work and get down to the business of growing my business.

  • Thanks so much for this post @rich-brooks.  Your goals list for monthly seminars and webinars, speaking engagements and book writing are excellent for expanding your reach. Creating a self-sustaining and growing business is a clear perspective on the overall view of how your business functions. Your 2012 is going to be one to watch as you accomplish your goals. My 2012 plan is on a similar trajectory so let’s stay connected as we put our plans into action.

What do you think of a gantt chart – a time line of the next 12 month?  I keep an updated gantt on a white board in my office which is a great visual of how my business processes interface as I develop them. It is a great tool to keep me on track.

    Your thoughts.

  • @katiecavanaugh Gantt chart is a great tool for tracking the progress.

    My Goals for 2012 is:

    Focus > Simplicity> Growth

  • @Rshabaz Speaking of Gantt chart I’ve just made mine today..

Hopefully, I can quit my day job in 2012 and just focus on my business.

  • When I started my business in Aug. My focus WAS to teach Retail Store Owners how to use Social Media more effectively. I am getting requests from others to help them as well in other areas where I have expertise. I feel a little distracted today but I’m settling into it all. I’ve had to make sure when I sit down to do an assessment with a potential Client that I am clear about what they need and that I know what I need to do to help. I’ve had people offer to help me who knew nothing about the my industry when I designed and created Art jewelry. Its an industry where, if you don’t know all the details, it can hurt or even destroy a business. I stay focused on my areas of expertise. If I can’t help them, I refer them.

  • @Katie what you’ve just enumerated are really great. That is definitely an action plan for 2012 and I guess we are working on few of them.

  • @katiecavanaugh

My goal is to grow our audience through informative and practical articles, webinars, and develop 3-4 offline conferences in Texas this year.

@rich-brooks Couldn’t agree with you more Rich! It’s a goal of mine as well. It’s going to take a few years to get there.
