Custom QR Codes (10 posts)

Topic tags: custom QR codes
  • I am interested in finding sites/companies where you can do a customized QR Code.  My purpose is to easily differentiate between 2 codes on the same page.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

You can do that yourself for free! Just go to any QR code generator (I use http://azonmedia.com/qrcode-generator ) and create a code for each URL you want.

If you need to make them look visibly different, you could try making one a short code (like bit.ly) and then QR’ing it. Don’t do that w/the other and then they’ll look different.

Or, using Photoshop or some similar tool, “select” the black in one QR code and turn it red. That will definitely make it different.

Does that answer your question, or am I misunderstanding it?

  • Susan, Rich is right on and that is a possibility, there are also ways out there to insert logos and do more to graphically differentiate the QR codes.

  • @susfry You should have a QR code that can be tracked and each QR code should have it’s own landing page so you don’t need to change the code, just the landing page from the back office. Make sure your QR code is readable from all smart phones and tablets. Also please make sure that it goes to mobile optimized site, or users will not like the experience.
We do have a webinar this Thursday that will cover this and more. Message me and I will give you more details. Since I am not allowed to promote, but you are asking questions that most people do.

  • Hi @susfry, are the 2 QR codes to different URL links?

  • You can use two different colors maybe @susfry

  • Been pleasantly surprised with the amount of “play” you have with manipulating the look of these things with Photoshop & have them still scanable by a code reader. Maybe try using Photoshop or GIMP, play with color, image overlays, borders… and see how much differentiation you can get away with.

In terms of having multiple codes juxtaposed against each other, would it be as easy as labeling the code & moving them to opposite corners of your “thing” like book-ends for a block of copy, just a thought

  • This is a great site for QR codes: http://beqrious.com/qr-code-generator/

You can make them for free and for $5/month you can track them.

You get a 30% (if I am remembering correctly) difference margin when playing with custom codes. So you can add small graphics. But ALWAYS test it before you print it. Sometimes putting an small image in the wrong spot will throw everything off.

  • I just made a QR Code for a real estate client where we used the QR Code as the front part of a house. Very simple, and it really stands out against anything else.

  • If you get a QR, you should make sure its trackable and changeable (if its the URL type).
