Crowd Funding Question (7 posts)

  • I have put together a fund raiser on Indiegogo.com to give my wellness consulting business an advertising boost.  The problem I have is I don’t know how to get the word out.  I have sent the information to friends and family.  I have posted it on FB and LinkedIn.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

  • HI Fawn….It is difficult to get the word out when you don’t have the budget to get the word out. One suggestion I do have is to make a call to action statement that resonates with the reader. Have a graphic that is eye catching and streamline some of your content into bullet points, this may help. Do you have any testimonials, if so use some of them, people want to know that you know how to help them.

    Good luck!

  • To build on what Dianne said, your proposal is too generic, and there is nothing on the page that supports the claims you’re making. You need to show potential sponsors that you really know your stuff and that your program can truly make a difference in people’s lives.
You may want to add a little info on your background and explain a bit more what your wellness program entails and throw in a graphic or video as Dianne suggested on that campaign homepage.

    Good luck.

  • Thank you for the feedback.  I will put these suggestions to work.

  • Fawn, I used kickstarterhttp://www.kickstarter.com/projects/76008715/a-dollop-and-a-pinch-wants-to-get-cooking  and I think it is similar to Indigogo. Most of the projects are creative in nature. Have you looked through the other projects to see if there are any like yours? Were they successful? What type incentives did they offer? Why do you need so much money? What sets you apart from others like you (your “unique selling point”) that would motivate someone to support you?I hope these questions help. @fawnmorgan

  • http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/76008715/a-dollop-and-a-pinch-wants-to-get-cooking sorry, the link for my kickstarter page didn’t have a space before it so it didn’t work @fawnmorgan

  • Kickstarter is great for businesses/projects related to the arts.  Indeigogo has more along the business line, but they don’t seem to be funding as well as arts and food.
