Content Marketing Plan – Any tips (8 posts)

  • Hi,

Does anyone have any tips on creating & implementing their CONTENT/plan for social media?

I am using facebook, twitter, pinterest & instagram.  I have launched my Fb profile by doing a 1 day ad – I got 140 likes and it was a Saturday.  So its a start. I feel confident that my topics beauty and weightloss will attract attention and I can get likes & interest with persistent effort.  But what after that???

I have a basic strategy for now until jan 2013.  I will be posting catchy headlines with links back toartciles my site – that will solve the question/concern that raised on FB.  (I do not know what my audience concerns are as engagement has not started).

My site is to educate and motivate.  (I tried being funny and Im no good at it).

I write good articles that are correct and in a friendly voice.

    So I will post:

    1.  links to hot topic articles, to my website

    2. motivational banners (just like everyone else)

    3. Links to topics of interest eg.  beauty/science & fitness science.

I am planning on doing the FB posting on a Tues & Wed.

Fri I will post make up & clothing ideas pics which I will link back to pinterest & instagram.

How many articles/links/motivationaa pics should I post?  I dont want to be a pest and turn people off – nor do I want to have no presence.

    Thanks for any feedback

I think the missing piece here is: what is your goal?

You mention you want to educate and motivate…but to what end? Is that your business model or do you ultimately have something to sell?

I don’t want to rain on your parade, but although there’s plenty of interest in weight loss and beauty, it’s also some of the most competitive niches on the internet today.

You’re going up against people who have been at it for years, and giant, global conglomerates w/millions of dollars and hundreds of people to throw at content creation.

Impossible? Of course not. But you need to be very clear about your goals and what you’re looking to accomplish. That comes way before a Facebook page or a Pinterest account, IMHO.

You need something unique to separate you, whether it’s that your targeting a specific group, a geographic area, or you have a specialty niche within a niche.

    Good luck!

  • @chrissc Chris, I’d start with a post or two a day and try different times on the day. I’d continue with changing the number of posts weekly and watch Insights properly to see what is the most effective.

Socialbakers have a good article on this http://www.socialbakers.com/blog/524-how-often-should-you-post-on-your-wall-to-engage-fans

  • Hello @chrissc

You say you want to share but I don’t see any links in your profile here.  Getting help, getting started also means that we need a place to go to see what you are doing to be able to give suggestions – if it’s good; needs improvement; and according to your goals – what might work for you?

I am going to say this with the knowledge of getting blasted – but you cannot depend on “free” to promote your business (if there is one – selling services, products, whatever).  If this is a personal goal, sure get a blog, get on some social media sites and go.  If this is for business – you need a platform that includes more, serious effort. This is where the actual plan must be in place.

  • @chrissc I would listen to what  @rich-brooks and  @supereb have to say good solid advice here.

@milan-steskal a blog post everyday is a bit unrealistic, what happens is the blogger tends to churn out a lot of substandard content that goes no where. Also people just starting out feel intimidated to just start churning out content on a regular basis. The big blogs do this because they have multiple write contributing to them in a pre-arranged schedule fo the new few months, so of-course its easy to follow that advice. I know and like the approach of two super famous bloggers… Derek Halpern from socialtriggers and Jon morrow form boostblogtraffic. Both only put up blog posts occasionally, but when they do they are really, really good. So here is my advice.

    1. Do your research first, the more time spent her the better your blogging will be
    2. Take your time to write a really good blog posts.
    3. Focus on quality not quantity.
    4. Blog about a burning aspects in your business, something that really resonates with the customers and offer a solution.
    5. Don’t sell give information freely, it will come back to you.
    6. If a topic has been blogged about alot, see how you can approach it from a new angle.
    7. Use more than one medium to illustrate your point.. images, videos, audio, slideshows, etc…
This is good for a start, hope it helps. :)

  • @geoffrey-gordon I was talking about publishing to a Facebook page, not blog posts ;)

  • @milan-steskal sorry, noted thanks

  • @rich-brooks I agree with Rich 100%. Find your subniche or get lost in the crowd and never found by those you’re targeting.

Also, add a YouTube Channel to your quiver and use Fiverr or some of the easy online video slide-show tools to make a video for every article you write. Nothing fancy, but make sure you add it to your article post, as well as cross link from your video to your article, to one additional article on your website, and visa versa from your article to your video, and one other video.

You’ll find those videos get ranked quickly on YouTube (take the time to learn how to easily optimize them) and will easily get you at the top of the page above the other SERPs for your keyword, if you do your research first and target that subniche you’re now going to focus on, lol.

At least those are my thoughts…
