Conducting Webinars as a business development tool (7 posts)

  • Hi all, I am a huge advocate of hosting informational webinars, promoted across all the SM channels of course, as a way to reinforce yourself as an authority on the product or service you are providing.  Not hard sell presentations- just a relationship starter…anyone else using this or perhaps Google hangouts? Haven’t tried those yet.

  • Great topic!I’ve tried them in the past and want to really get into them this year. The only thing I found (that perhaps someone can help with) is, as I’m still in the process of building my list and followings, I took to Google and Facebook ads to promote and get subscribers. I found this to be very expensive for the amount of subscribers and then attendees I received. Does anyone have any tips as a more productive and less costly way to succeed at this? Or is that just it, it takes time and resources and eventually my following will prosper?

  • @lisagrover @melissaagnes Hello folks! There is actually a very interesting thread already on this very topic. Check it out: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/small-business/forum/topic/using-webinars/

  • Great! Thanks! Must have missed that one :)

  • @lisagrover – Since we just launched in November, our blog has exploded and extremely pleased with it. Regarding webinars, yes it is absolutely in our plans and mission.

However, we are working towards a monthly goal of 10,000 visitors every month for 2 months before we are ready. I want to build up our audience first, who then has the means to share it. We are already at approximately 2,000 this month and that’s up from last week by over 300.

@melissaagnes I thought about taking the same approach you did and came to your conclusion before I did it. We actually have a few champions across the country that are starting to promote us now that they’ve seen the site.

In the next 2-3 weeks, I have a contact who is friends with the owner of a large radio station in Dallas (where I live) who is working on getting me on the air for a whole morning to promote our live conference in Dallas.

So, as my audience grows and we are consistent, then we’ll be ready to do webinars. It’s all about building the audience.

  • @fredericgonzalo thanks for the direction..here I was thinking I had an original discussion topic!

@donpurdum I have been following your blog, around the time it first launched and am finding your content to be engaging. Congratulations on your success.

@melissaagnes consider using LinkedIn Groups to augment your approach. I think it is one of the most underutilized means of making a real connection with your intended audience, aside from SME Networking Club of course!

  • @lisagrover You are very kind Lisa! Thank you. I appreciate every one of our readers and followers!
